Lol- geriatric hamster- that's cute! His name is Hammy- very original, I know. He started out as Spike, per my son, then became Cuddles (my daughter's idea) and somehow ended up as Hammy, HamBone or HamBam. Yeah, it sux that they don't live longer- but it really helps me appreciate Hammy and value the time I do have with the little guy.
Wow, 98 years is a LONG time for a pet to live- quite a responsibility really. That's Venus in the pic on your profile, right? She's beautiful!
I hope you're both having a great holiday!
-Dee
OMG- I can't even imagine the stress- why do animals eat things like needles?? Good thing you noticed the thread and figured it out. And $2500- yikes!- but I woulda done the same thing. It's one thing when an animal is old and sick and they've just been through enough, but in an emergency like that- no choice but to drain the bank account and save 'em! I'm glad everything "came out" alright ;).
Hope your holiday is going great!
-Dee
Thank you- hope you'e both having a great holiday!!!
Hugs and prayers,
Dee
Sorry I screwed up your name last time!
LOL- I think you read my hubby's mind- I can just see him discovering poor Hammy has gone to Hammy Heaven and running frantically to the pet store to replace him, hoping to avoid the hysterics and dramatic funeral that I will insist upon... if Hammy lives past 10 years I think I will become suspicious.
Y'know, you're right- what DO people think it's gonna be like shopping then anyway?
Oh well, it's all over now- hope you had a great holiday!!!
Love and hugs to all. This is the best forum ever and everytime I am here I get to smile and laugh. Thank you all for this. It takes this village to get us through this.
Merry holidays to all!
Linda
'Nasty people and riba moods don't go well together'
Ain't THAT the truth! *LOL*
4Cgood,
Oh my. I can just see petunia. Do you and she have matching outfits?
SBbaygirl,
What a funny (but expensive) story! Hope the cat's OK.
DLR,
Ohhhhhh. A little geriatric hamster! What's his name. That is sad about the short life span. Unfortunately, Venus, the Amazon is in the will. She can live to be 98 and she's still a youngster, only 30 or so. :)
wyn
I wish you a merry and happy holiday season :) shelly
or 99 pills on the wall, 99 pills on the wall, we pound one down and pound some around 98 pills on the wall.....
I love it! A spoon full of sugar makes the medicine go down the medicine go down and then we go out and make the shoppers give up their spaces and the shop clerks serve us first , the shop clerk serve us first!
Also on the 99 pills on the wall, 99 pills on the wall, we take one down pound some around, 98 pills on the wall....lol
watching Mary Poppins on TV.....waiting for , "just a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down, the medicine go down..............................."
"My cat ate a needle I was using to repair John's pants. $2500 to get it out. I knew he ate it because the thread was hanging out his rear" It's a damn good thing you weren't knitting!!!...............(vbg)
You are funny but so true about shopping. I can't imagine someone with a riba rage not getting that spot! I have heard to many tales of accidents on this stuff.
My cat ate a needle I was using to repair John's pants. $2500 to get it out. I knew he ate it because the thread was hanging out his rear. Kinda funny now that he is well. I don't leave needles lying around anymore, to say the least.
Guy brought a seeing eye dog in training (Guide Dogs for the Blind) to our database user's group. He let me scratch it and sit with it. Most pet stuff I've had in years. Friend Kelly just spent $1000+ on her cat's teeth. Yikes.
Heppy Holidays!
'Golden months', LOL.
This is where hubby runs to the pet store to buy one that looks just like yours, sneaks it in the cage :}
I give up the parking spaces as I keep in mind...they are either just mean and perhaps will feel bad when I smile and holler Merry Christmas....or....... they could be much sicker than me :}
Funny tho, yesterday had to go out to 'insanity' land.....think Christmas shoppers can be worse than Riba rage.....but every where I went I got an up front spot and very little wait :}
Makes NO sense to me....anyone going out to shop the week before Christmas KNOWS it's going to be a zoo of rabid (sp? Rabies:} .....people, waiting, lines, parking.....what are you mad for?? You knew it, deal with it or go shopping in August!!
On that note ...Happy last minute shopping all and Merry Christmas.....Happy Holidays.....Happy 'days of off work' ....to all :}
LL
Thank you! Hopefully hubby's bx will bring good news- but good or bad, it must be dealt with. I'm just so grateful that I have learned what needs to be done- I owe it all to you great people here!
Your dog sounds awesome- amazing how smart they are, knowing the suitcase means "Mommy's leaving!". I got my hamster for my daughter originally, then fell in love with the little guy- he is so special and cuddly and fun. The only downside to it is that hamsters only live for 2-4 years :(. My Hammy is 16 months now and I'm already preparing for his golden years (or months I should say)- setting up his cage for easier living, feeding him softer foods that he loves so he'll be used to them when his poor little teeth fall out... my husband says I'm outta my ever-lovin mind and I think he may have a point there- lol.
Oh well- have a great holiday and watch out for those crazy drivers! That's nice, your letting parking spaces go- I feel so much better when I do something nice like that rather than getting in some ridiculous fight and making a huge scene. I'm really getting a bit too "mature" or that- though my kids find it hilarious!
Best wishes,
Dee
Funny, and so true! The FEW times I have ventured out.....some nasty 'holiday giving' people out there! Nasty people and Riba moods don't go well. Have stayed home unless absolutly needed.
The beat you to the parking space is the worst, so I have been just smiling and giving it up....hollering Merry Christmas as I drive by :}
Your dog sounds like one of mine, bed hog and lays outside the shower....waiting! If I even pull out a suit case he is in depression! I have to take his leash. collar and lay it by the suit case!
(when he's going )!
Happy Holidays all
LL
Happy Holidays to you too. Hope the BEST in hubbys bx.
LL
I can top ya'....... over $4500. on ONE cat past couple years! (No ' a bullet cost 10 cents comments please, heard MANY, LOL)

New 'stray'.....about $300.

My ONE dental need fixed.....not yet!!
When is enough enough..........God I wish I knew , LOL!
LL
don't apologize to me for loving your dog...I love to hear these types of stories...I have a beautiful white pitty with a pink nose named Petunia. She's mostly white and pink. She wears a very nice pink frock with a hood when it's cold, and she has a fake diamond encrusted collar, pink as well...she's the babe of the block...and one of the smartest, most gentle dogs around...
Dee,
Back to you, too! Susan400
Sfwandwow,
Your dog sounds great! You're right, our pets do have that unquestioning, absolute love for us- plus they're a lot easier to get along with than the husbands- lol. That would be awesome if you could open up a kennel. And it sounds like you're doing well on tx- I'm so glad for you.
Dancegirl,
Thanks- good to hear from you too! I'm so sorry to hear about your cat- and one year is so young, it would be a shame for him not to live a long happy life. But I know what you mean- sometimes there's just a limit to what you can keep shelling out for $$, no matter how badly you want to. My Mum has had boy cats with urinary problems too- I remember the special food and her racing to the vet often. Sometimes it comes on very suddenly, a serious UTI, and kills them, so in a way you're lucky you found out what this is... but still, how stressful. I hope this turns out well for you and your cat- you have already gone above and beyond the point where many pet owners would, so you should feel good about that. Best of luck, and I hope you have a great holiday!
Prayers and best wishes,
Dee
Nice to see an update from you! I've spent $2500 this year on a year old cat with a blocked ureter(sp?). He has special food, meds, etc. We love this little cat but when is enough enough? Now the vet wants to do another ultrasound($500).
pets love us unconditionally like GOD does..I lovemy pet i think as much or more then my hubby ( just kidding) she is 37 lb boxer and smart as ever..catches the ball inthe air and knows commands..Ilove animals they make like real to me..In the near future i wanna open up my boarding kennel..MY dog is so spoiled rotten she hogs the bed every nite..
