Something bothering me

I do not think it was necessary to say to me "Looking to a website and believing that this is true?
What makes you think that if it is shown on google means that it has any foundation ".Of course I don't believe that just because it's on google that it has any information.I only offered that as an example as to how I was able to find links to articles on it.There are some that will say that positive thinking does nothing either or prayers or Love.I believe in all of the above as ways to heal .I believe in miracles too!Can you pet a cat and lower your blood pressure or that owning a pet helps the aged live longer? Why are some so critical?

This was very interesting...didn't see original post as I am behind on reading due to extreme fatigue....I have a HUGE bottle of milk thistle and was ready to start taking it as I do believe in supplements.  But my liver gastro is adamant that I shouldn't take it and after reading this post and the website I have more info.

Everyone should just agree to disagree sometimes.  Know you all have seen me post the statement that a lot of our feelings come from personal experiences or misinformation we were given.  This is a learning website and someone the other day sent me a message to correct something that I had questioned.  I know I am passionate about a lot of things...nutrition being one of them...but also know what is right for me might not be right for someone else.

Cree....you have given me much to be introspective about and I enjoy your posts....told someone else a few weeks ago who was upset that someone kind of attack her just to consider the source and ignore it....as long as we are posting positively and from our experiences and hearts what harm can we really do....and there are so many of the posters who have backup info...I just don't have the energy...plus the HE, the ESLD, Stage 4 decompensation, etc.  sometimes I fall asleep reading or I'll read sometime I emailed to a friend the night before and I'll go WHAT????

Hope you are having a good Easter weekend with your Mom.......

I new this was coming the minute I read it. (The original post.) Cree it was a goofy post that got goofier. Nothing is wrong with milk thistle and what there doing in Europe. I can't speak for the person that posted the Internet comment. . But I knew it was going to hurt you!!! I also believe it was a valid comment. The bottom line to that post was just what I said, it doesn't cure. I have taken milk thistle for years. I tell my sister to take it. Before she guzzles and when she wakes up in the morn. Im not the smartest chick on here and I didn't feel good at first posting here either. But as you know everybody is entitled to there opinion. Please remember your in a state that not all of us are in. Your not able to do as much and get the neurotransmitters going. I also wish you had more support at home. But as it stands you have your apps. Lined up and your moving forward. Lets be happy about that!! It was challenging and you did it. Don't sweat the small stuff! Never liked that saying. Lol!!  Hang in there-- kitty

Some of the discussions on the forum can get pretty heated when people are in disagreement about some issues; milk thistle and drinking alcohol post SVR are two issues that seem to draw the most argument. As a sensitive person, I usually avoid those threads.

Try not to take it personally, take it for what it is. You bluntly stated your opinion and she bluntly stated hers.

The first part of my statement was refering to some things that Diane66 said to me.It really wasn't necessary for her to judge my methods of looking for the links on Milk thistle.
Thank you for more info. on the stuff.I think there are somethings that will help one person and not another.I used Liquid Milk Thistle above the maximum dosage for years.I am no longer able to because it is in a minute amount of alcohol and I would be in violation.I believe that it helped protect my liver for a long while of abusing myself.
There are so many truly loving people on here and then there are some that delight in bombarding scared people. When I first found Medhelp I was so in need of people to offer their knowledge and friendship.I honestly felt comfortable asking questions and learning new info. Now I find myself double-checking my words, spelling ,and grammer so much so that it had become easier to just be quiet..Thank goodness there are some true loving people that understand and don't think I am asking dumb questions or pass judgement on my poor ESLD brain.

I'm not sure what you mean but I  saw your post and I recognized what you were referring to. I think some people may not realize that what we call Milk Thistle is developed elsewhere and is called Legalon and IV can be Silibinin.

Silibinin (INN), also known as silybin, is the major active constituent of silymarin, a standardized extract of the milk thistle seeds

Here it is in Drugs . com
http://www.drugs.com/international/legalon-sil.html

The  trial involved Silibinin (INN), also known as silybin, is the major active constituent of silymarin, a standardized extract of the milk thistle seeds.

Here is the outcome of one of those trials (Not sure it is the same NCT # since there were two)
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22352731:

These findings together with the available clinical experience justify the use of silibinin as Legalon® SIL in Amanita poisoning cases.
Here it is elsewhere:

Anyway I have only ever seen Legalon in Hungary on one site here in the US. I found a few old threads about it

J Viral Hepat. 2012;19(8):547-553.

This is the first report of a short-term rescue regimen for HCV-infected patients with partial response to ongoing antiviral treatment with high-dose silibinin infusions. After two infusions of silibinin, a complete virologic response could be observed in 13 of 20 patients (65%). In all except one patient, it was possible to maintain the induced response during the follow-up period of continued antiviral treatment with peginterferon alpha and ribavirin only.
