I am SVR!

I just got a six - seven month post tx viral load and I am SVR!  I am very happy about it.  I didn't ever doubt that I would become SVR, but it's still nice to see it in black and white on a test result.

Just to recap.  I was a 1b and I treated acutely (for somewhere between six and seven months) on ribavirin and pegasys.

From my initial infection to SVR has only been about 14 - 15 months or so.  I even feel pretty great these days.  This has been a bad month and an even worse week for me personally, so this is some welcome news!

I'm so pleased to hear that you SVR'ed Syd.  You sure worked hard for it.  I'm glad you made it and you are starting to feel better.  There were times reading your story I got kind of scared for you.  Anyway..... only good things ahead for you now.

Cheers and best wishes,

Great news alagirl - its funny, I feel so good now (about 10 months post tx), that I rarely visit this board, just pop in now and then, I just don't think about the disease as much as I did. It makes me so happy to come on here and see another acute reach SVR - you have had a rough ride, but I am sure it will be worth it if you feel half as good as I do right now.

So glad to hear your news. Even though you downplay it gracefully, you did go through a lot on tx and I'm thrilled to hear that you're SVR and feeling better! You were so helpful to me when my hubby was dx'ed wit diabetes, and that was right in the midst of your tx, and I haven't forgotten that. Congradulations!
Hugs and a big highfive,
Dee

You guys, I came home and saw this and I was really touched.  Thank you so much for your response to my news.

Honestly, I know I went to the hospital a bunch (hey, I couldn't cook on tx and they had pretty decent food) but I don't think I had it really that much harder than others.  It kind of doesn't matter if you are feeling lousy hooked up to an IV in the hospital or prone on the sofa at home, you still feel awful.  And the hospital at least gives you good drugs and brings all your meds and meals. lol  And truly, people like NYGirl, who had such longer treatment durations and who had so many difficult things happen to them during treatment, went through a lot more than me.  I was so fortunate to have been able to treat for a shorter time than most 1b's and still to reach SVR.

And I had such a peace about feeling that my odds were so great for SVR that from the beginning I never really doubted it (as Jim kind of pointed out), and that made going through the difficult things during treatment a lot easier.  I honestly had a more difficult time AFTER treatment because it was so anticlimactic and I didn't have any studies at that point to tell me when or if I would feel better after the effect of the treatment drugs.  So that was my personal darkest time emotionally, and to answer frijole's question, I now feel so good physically that it surprises me.  I have truly recovered and I feel pretty great most of the time.  I developed tx related RA, but even that seems to have diminished in severity.

I am just very grateful to everyone here who helped me through tx and its aftermath.  For the people who talked to me on the phone during times when I was a raving lunatic (when I was spending part of each day talking out loud to an invisible woman who only existed in my head), I truly appreciate your advice and your giving your time.  You few folks know who you are.  Thank you for not mentioning to me at the time that I was insane, even when you couldn't understand a word I said ;)

I wish everyone good health and good luck in your chosen way of living with and treating your hcv.  I appreciate all of you so much.

Syd

OHHHH! I am so glad to see this! You went thru an awful time and I lost count on your transfusions and trips to ER. If anyone gave it a fight, you surely did!
Very glad you are also feeling better these days, it's an awesome feeling.

Keep healing up, getting healthier, hugs LL
