Relapsing

Hello,

I want to thank everybody for your support in this forum.  I'm new on this but I have read most of every members post questions.  I have learned a lot!!!  I just finish 48 weeks at the end of Nov. 07 and got my SVR tested done today will have my results in a week to see if I'm still und..  My question they did a CBC, and CMP and my enzymes are normal as well the rest of my results except I don't know if I'm still Hep C free... I still have night sweats  once in a while can this be a sign of relapsing ... I have my energy back and pretty much everything is normal but just a great concern with the night sweats which I had before treatment and disappear during TX and now I have them..

Will appreciate your comments on this?  I want to keep a positive mind that next week I will hear goods news..

Thanks to everybody!!!

The sweats could simply be because you still have the meds in your system.  It takes a good 6 months for them to leave your system after a 48 week course of treatment.  I note you said that you just finished treatment in November, 2007, that's only 2 months ago.  In order to be considered SVR you would have to be undetectible 6 months after being off treatment, i.e. SVR test would actually be in May.

Thanks Mouse for your comments.  They order lab work today to look for the antibodies.. that's what the dr. said or can it be they just want to know if I'm still und.. I did get a lab work order also for July and it does indicate Hep C RNA by PCR.

I have to be honest I'm still on Paxil 40 mg. to keep myself together with this rollercoaster of treatment.. lol!! But it does help to read other members comments.

Tks again!!

I had night sweats before treatment, during and after treatment.  After relapsing I had night sweats.  During treatment #2 I had night sweat.  Treatment # 2 was successful, finished 5 months ago.  Had the sweats this past weekend.  To summarize, night sweats do not necessarily portend relapse.  The only conclusion you can draw is that it's time to do laundry again. Similar to a washing machine, post treatment jitters put you through the wringer.

Welcome, sorry you weren't here thru your tx, best place to be.

First.... My grandmother ( I adored) was Pearl :}  So love your name.
Congrats on finishing tx! Are you at menopause age? Could be that and tx can sometimes bring that on, and even known to reverse it! Just a thought.
When did you reach UND? As mouse said, it would be May for the 6mths. but wishing you luck in all the test now and than.

I was UND 12, 24 and 35 wks.  I did notice that when I was acute hep c I had some problems with my ovaries and breast.  Can your inmune system trying to fight off the virus give you an inbalance hormonal?  Also, my breast bother me too at that time I did a momogram and I had lymp inflamation (inflammation) also... but all that went away once I started treatment..  I don't have none of that now but once in a while a do have a tingling in my left ovary and the night sweats as well maybe twice a week..

I had night sweats during tx.  Have had a few night sweats post tx, but they seem to be gone. I went through menopause before tx and never had them!  I was annoyed that they started during tx.  It does sound like you may be in that stage. Your dr. can check it out, but it sure doesn't mean relapse!  Those drugs are heavy duty and it wouldn't surprise me if you are sweating them out of your system.

I had night sweats and hot flashes pre tx, and had night sweats during tx, and have both again.  You and I finished about the same time.. Mine was on Thanksgiving.. Last riba, last shot was on the 16th.

But I was in menapause before tx, and hope it stays that way..

I haven't treated yet, I was diagnosed a month before you ended treatment.  However, I'd like to say hello and hoping for your SVR.  I'd certainly think the normal liver enzymes bode well for you.  Good Luck

I regreat not joining it before I really had a hard time during TX mainly my mind went nuts lol!!!! Anyways, just waiting for lab results one month and half after post TX if i'm still UND or I have relapse.... I have my fingers cross and just wait that's all what I can do..

Good luck and if you have any questions please free to ask!!

I have read that there is a correlation between Hepc and hormones.  A GI I once had told me, that he has had men patients, who grew breasts.
Night sweats happen, sometimes  your body is just flushing out toxins, sometimes it is as simple as wearing a polyster night gown.
They can also be a sign something is not right.
One month is not a long time after stopping Txing. What ever the case the time on Tx gave your liver a rest and a chance to regenerate.
Don't panic, give it some time and do mention it to you GI or Doctor.
Best Wishes and will pray for you and a UND!

I have to tell you I'm still on the Paxill too - 20mg.  I don't know that i really want to go off of it. I think I might have ALWAYS needed to be on it - it seems to keep me much more 'even' than I used to be...so don't feel bad.

The night sweats will disappear in time. You've been putting all those meds in for quite a while and it can take a 48 weeker up to a year to get back to "normal" is what I've been told. I did 72 weeks and am just starting to feel sort of really "right" again now.
