8 weeks of symptoms

I have had ongoing pain and small bump on penis and upper lip on face now for 8 weeks.  I have been told that herpes doesn't last this long. was tested at 6 weeks-negative.   I have constant burning in penis tip and small bump. the bump on upper lip does not hurt and showed up about a week after the penis bump.  I don't think I ever head a cold sore.  This doesn't  look like herpes 1 or 2 according to pics but the symptoms seem similar.

What can this be if not herpes?

much appreciated.  Any insight at this point.

Pat

i'm sorry but at this point nothing we can do to help you. You need to continue following up on this with medical providers until they find out what is going on.

another week later Grace and still this is going on.  This won't go away.  I don't  have money for doc.  I have seen on this forum cases sometimes lasting this long of hsv, but I trust your instinct on this one.  Is there anyway going on 10 weeks this could be releated to herpes, any chance at all?

it's not going to be herpes lasting for 9 weeks like this.

Continue to follow up with your provider as needed.

Blood tests at this point are useless. Lesion cultures of active symptoms are the only thing that will help you figure out if what is going on is due to herpes or not but really at this point, no reason even for that because it has been lingering way too long to be due to herpes.

Grace this is still going on!  I went to dermo and she said it is either hpv or herpes. but i question her because she said that i was positive for herpes based on my test which my other dermatologist said was Unequvacal  (.95)  1st derm told me to quit testing that it was all in my head.

My question (please answer) is do antibodies for herpies make the virus go dormant for a period of time between outbreaks or does it do it by nature on it's own. Cuz everything you have said and others is that herpes does not last 9+ weeks EVER....... is it possible I have no antibodies for 6 months and this is what is causing the outbreak to last so long?

If you are still having symptoms, you need to return to the dermatologist for further evaluation.  this is unlikely to be due to herpes so really no reason to continue testing for it every few weeks.

Thank you kindly for your responses.  Would you even bother testing again?  I was clean at 6 weeks and then at 10 weeks igm was negative.   The test at 6 weeks was only .05 for HSV2 and .85 for HSV1.  The doc said that for the hsv2 to be so low with a so called lesion present suggested I didn't have that.  So he only retested with igm and hsv1 igg at ten weeks which came back negative as well.

Thanks again..

Plain and simple, herpes symptoms do not last for 8 weeks.

I suppose if you're not satisfied with your dermatologist, seek out another doctor's opinion. It does not sound like herpes, but ultimately no one here can diagnose.

I was seen by a dermatologist who told me it was all in my head.  This pain is real...trust me!

what else could this be?
what should I do?

thanks

You are correct, this does not sound like herpes at all.

Why aren't you getting it checked out when you have symptoms?
