Paper cut herpes lesions

Hi, recently I had sex with a girl who I know pretty well, and was tested for STD's (not herpes b/c she had no sores) and  we used a condom for most of the interaction, except for the first 10 seconds.  About mid way through, she complained of soreness and we discovered she had just started her period, and stopped.  About 5 days later, i had intense itching in my groin, down my legs, and my buttocks.  I began to get worried, and then began to get a soreness at the tip of the penis, with redness.  She started having symptoms 2 days later, similar itching and burning.  Neither of us had any blisters, and were both diagnosed with yeast infections.  I did notice 3 peculiar paper cut like "scratches" on my inner thigh, about 6 inches down, each 1 inch in length.  They were slightly itchy, but the pain was in the penis post-itchiness so i did not think much of it, and was told by my doctor, and a STD specialist that if it was herpes, id have blisters, and that the fact that she had a similar reaction would lead them to believe it was fungal or bacterial.  I have the itching again, 3 weeks after we had sex, and 1 week after the first occurrence.  COuld this be herpes? or is it a yeast infection?  What I read on the internet about paper cut sores scared me as I didn't even consider them to be herpes.  Im very anxious and would appreciate any help.

Thanks

odds are you are just convincing yourself.

paper cuts can be herpes but usually they are not. they would be on the genitals.

it's not likely a recurrence would present like this. no reason to think this is herpes. return to your provider if it hasn't cleared up after antibiotics.

hi grace,

i contacted you last spring about itchiness i had after a sexual encounter as described above.  I was tested 10 weeks after with a type blood test that came back negative.  recently, that intense itch came back on my butt.  this time i had about 8-10 pimple like red bumps on my butt a day later. I went to the dr. who told me it was unrelated and gave me antibiotics of folliculitis.  I took them for a week and the bumps are still there, but the itching has decreased.  Is it possible this is a herpes outbreak and the blood test was too soon or missed it?  Is it possible it could be scabies or something of that nature?  I am trying to figure out what this could possibly be... I have no symptoms such as fever etc.  The weekend this encounter occurred was the same weekend I stayed in a hostel in a different country... i did not think any parasitic rash would be reccurring, and there was no rash the first time!!!  If you have any idea of what this could be, or any suggestions id really appreciate it.

all you can do is to continue following up with your providers when you have symptoms and follow up with proper testing at the right time to rule out herpes for your own peace of mind.

hi, i had sex with a girl the past few days, and then afterwards noticed 5 small red bumps on the base of my penis.  I have the itching again, but no other physical symptoms.  I am again worried and anxious, what is going on with me!?  i am worried now that the girl could be infected, but the multiple doctors i saw before that said it wasnt herpes and i never had any bumps before...

That itch could be anything from dry skin to just focused anxiety.  You aren't going to have 3 occurances of herpes in a single month. You're being fatigued could be just you aren't sleeping well because you are stressing about herpes.  At this point unless you get a rash or bumps not much more you can do other than wait to be tested at the approraite time frame.

I also have been feeling noticeably fatigued lately.  I wake up feeling fine, go to class, then the gym is a struggle and by 6 pm im WIPED out and want to go to sleep.  I am a very energetic, athletic 20 year old and usually dont experience this.  I would explore lyme disease or mono if it wasnt from the fact that the female had the same symptoms i did initially, but hasnt had anything since.  I just want this to be over!  I am going home in 2 days and will see my doctor in the U.S. but was hoping you had any insight.

Thanks

hi grace, another week passed and i woke up this morning with the itchiness down my legs and butt! i dont have any rash, but it is definitely itchy.  Could this still be a yeast infection?  I have been treating even though i had no symptoms with anti-fungal cream and it seemed to be working, i showered 2-3 times a day and kept clean and dry.  Should I try oral yeast infection pills?  Or could this be Herpes?  That would be 3 occurences in a month which I think is a lot... im still hoping this is fungal.

Thanks,

Spencer

odds are what you are noticing on your thighs aren't due to herpes.  if you are concerned, go and be seen.

You don't need to double post.  We get to the forums when we can.  The to box doesn't mean it is only going to be seen by that one person.

These symptoms need to be looked at by a professional.  It is normal for us to get bumps in some places like your thighs.  You need to see your provider for a work up.  If they feel its herpes they can do a culture.  But I seriously doubt you have anything to worry about.

hi grace, is it possible to develop little pimples that hurt when touched but arent painful otherwise with a yeast infection.  If this is a recurrent yeast infection, its only been a week since the first one, i have noticed a sore throat and these tiny pimples and am still concerned it could be herpes.  This is on my thighs.  The genital area is completely fine except for scratchiness in the testicles, i have itching on the back of my legs and butt.  I apologize for harping on this issue it is just very nerveracking.

i always have very small tiny pimple looking things down my upper thighs, no pain, and they dont come or go, near htem this morning i had a new pimple/blister like bump that was painful to the touch,  Could I be having mild herpes outbreaks? or is this just me being worried?  I feel like this cycle never ends, I have had a herpes blood test a year ago that was neg for hsv1 and hsv2 but could have easily gotten hsv1 kissing other ppl, so how would i ever know?

indeed you can donate at ashastd as mistakeguy posted. I'm also the herpes girl there on their message boards so it's still a way to give back for the help you've been given here in order to help others :)

If you've never been tested for herpes before, follow up at some point with a type specific herpes igg blood test to get an idea of your own status.

If you continue to have these mouth issues, be seen again for further evaluation.

are you taking anything for allergies at this point?

There is no way to support MH.  Though you can support the great folks at ASHA which provide free services to people.  Their site is www.ashastd.org

Okay, thats great, thank you.  If they would be on the genitals, i have no sign of any lesion.  Would you still recommend a blood test?  Also, the eyes shouldnt be a concern for ocular herpes?  A week ago i first noticed scratchy eyes, and swollen lips.  Never developed a sore, just a crack on the corner of my mouth which i get now and again.  They both went away, i have a tiny painful sore on the tip of my tongue, but doesnt look like a herpes sore.  My eyes have a red line from the corner to the center of the eye.  The doctor looked and said prob allergies and that its unrelated.  This isnt my normal doctor so i am slightly hesitant to trust, but it seems like you agree with the doctor on all fronts?

I really do appreciate the prompt response.  I am just worried because i got this itching and immediately the headache and sore throat followed.  Am i just convincing myself?  Also, would the paper cut lesions possibly be down the leg?  Or are they using on the genitals?  Thanks so much, this is very helpful

sounds like a cold or allergies to me too. You can get a nasty headache from sinus pressure sometimes.

you were seen and they didn't think that these looked like herpes.

hi, today i saw the doctor who said this is NOT herpes, i have no new lesions and the itching pretty much went away with the cream, but my eyes were irritated all day, and i have a little red line from the corner of my eye towards the center.  Both eyes are irritated so I called and let the doctor know, and she said it was seasonal allergies and not be worried... i listened also because my groin area feels 100% fine.  I then got home and got a horrible sore throat and headache and havent been out of bed.  Is this a sign of the yeast infection returning or could this be herpes and I just dont have sores.  I am studying abroad in london, and have been for 3 months, and will be home in 10 days and will get a blood test then.  I am worried this couldve been a recurrence of herpes after only a week because of how stressed ive been.  Is it possible to return that quickly?  I have 0 new lesions... and never really had anything to begin with.  She thinks the 2 issues are completely unrelated, and its hard for me to believe.  Anyones input is greatly appreciated...

Thanks

you need to continue using antifungal creams for a full week after the rash disappears. make sure you properly use them.

hi grace, thank you for the response, i really appreciate it.  I am feeling better now ironically that it did return within a week because that is unlike herpes and its mostly just an itchy feeling right now.  I used antifungal cream today and feel better.  My immune system is very worn down because of how stressed i am and lack of sleep, so hopefully i can start to feel better and shake this thing all together.  I will most likely get a blood test to make sure its not herpes, but feel a lot better about the prognosis now.  The paper cuts were pretty far down my inner thigh, halfway between the genitals and knee and werent the major source of my discomfort.  Still praying this all goes away!  All the feedback is much appreciated.

It's not unusual for fungal infections to return. at this point go back and be seen and get another exam done.

yes paper cuts can be herpes lesions but usually they aren't.

you and your partner can both get type specific herpes igg blood tests done to see who has what, regardless of if you have symptoms or not.
