Can primary genital herpes appear as single bump on inner thigh?

Hi all,

I'm male and eight days ago I had protected vaginal and oral sex with someone who I later found out had HSV2. She had no obvious symptoms, but I did not do a thorough inspection so who knows. Since then I have had no lesions appear except for a single pimple-looking thing on my inner thigh which has been there for two days without changing. It is about 5 inches away from my groin, but probably just within the boxer shorts area. The pimple has a very small white head but when I try to squeeze it nothing noticeable came out. It is not painful to touch.

I'm wondering whether this sounds like it could be a herpes lesion? From everything I've read, it sounds like this is an unlikely place to get a primary outbreak - it is far from my penis and scrotum, and it is also not a place that would have been rubbed vigorously during sex. In fact I'm unsure that this location would have been touched at all. However, the descriptions online of herpes are so vague - it sounds like its possible for a primary outbreak to be very minor and occur anywhere.

I'm so worried I can't sleep or work or do anything, so any advice would be appreciated hugely.

Thanks

Yes. The thigh is not common at all.

You can relax. Your odds are as close to zero as it gets. That and your pimple is just that. Hsv lesions progress quickly and don't have whiteheads. No need for concern. Congrats on your protected sex!!!

Thank you very much. Out of interest, I cannot seem to find an answer - if you have protected sex does the primary outbreak appear in an uncovered place? And how likely is thigh to be the site of the outbreak (quite low down the thigh)?
