Can someone please help and explain what is going on?

I went to massage parlor in October which I regret very much. The thing I believe what happened was handjob and fingering (by me). I cleaned my hands and that was it.

A week later I only noticed a small scab suddenly in the underside of penis (circumcised) morning, and its surrounding was red (looked like red bumps). There was another small scab a little farther away, and two days later that scab and the other one got bigger the surrounding redness color decreased. There were very small dot scabs but when I peeled off there was red raw skin underneath(looked fresh). It turned white I believe and didn't scab again. I went to the doctor that same day I discovered the scab and was told it was not herpes. The cell culture could not be done since it was scabbing already. I even took pictures, and took it a different doctor and was told it did not look like herpes.

Previously I did not have any sexual relationships, and earlier this year I was positive for hsv 1 (cold sore in lips) after encounter within two weeks. Since then there hasn't been any encounters. What this is scaring me is this hepres 1 or 2?I read symptoms show in 10 days.

After a month of this encounter I took a blood test. I was positive for hsv 1 (>6) and positive for hsv 2 (1.85). Is this positive from the handjob encounter? It was negative when I last took a blood test in the summer (positive for hsv 1) and I am not sure what is going on.

Can someone please explain what is going on? Can hsv 2 be negative and dormant and suddenly be positive? The tests were the same in both cases (herpesselect AB IgG).

I dont mean to scare you but I can promise that there was fingering (by me), handjob with massage lotion all the time and a kiss and suck on breasts. I even went to the spa and asked them if the girl there worked, I don't remember her name but the lady said they can't be dirty if they want to stay in business, and she said I was the first one who came with this issue and no one else.

I will do western blot to confirm in a few days.

Sorry to hear you're so distressed. Please know that no matter what the result, you abosutley will put this into much different perspective with a bit of time. There is a lot of hysteria about such a virus, and it can make a person feel really awful psychologically. Again, no matter what, you should know that ilt's very, very common, and many people feel distressed like that only to find that it all is put into perspective with more time.

Please let us know the result. I think people would be very interested to know if you could have acquired HSV2 from a hand job.

Btw, I talked to the doctor about this test result and I mentioned her about the test result I got last week, she said it is possible that they use different scales when measuring these antibodies..all they got from the result is high for 1 and 2 for me( i dont know if this igm or igg, I think its igg). I will do western blot and hope for the best.

I am really thinking if I do it now (the kit should be coming by the end of the week) then I am thinking I should know it what the result is. I have read other posts where people do get low positives for igg consistently then negative on western blot.

That's what they told me.  I believe your exposure is already post 12 weeks.

I think doing this igg test was a huge mistake from my part..I talked to western blot and they said it can be inconsistent at times and I messed up doing it different times at different places.

I called the university of Washington. They say minimum is 12 weeks.

jcornish, this was not the same lab doing the test..i went to a different doctor. At this point i will go with the wb test and get the confirmation.But here is the thing: this will be about 10 weeks post encounter. Would the WB test be a real positive positive after this time or should I wait? I dont want to wait anymore.

I am no expert but any means.  The doctor does not want me to test nor wanted to see me about this.  He said I am wasting his time (he said it in a nice).  He said if I had an acute infection by day 22 it should show on my igg.  he said to put behind me.  Obviously, I haven't.  

Your results most probably false positive.

As life said, your exposure from the massage parlor is no risk and based on that I would say it is false negative for IGG.

I understand, and believe me I am not angry at you or anyone. I will the do tor what their scale was for this test, but I wanna ask you: does this sound consistent to you? My hsv 1 increased rapidly and hsv 2 as well. Doesn't the body take time or it increases this fast?

The second test was done on dec 21st and the last one on dec 31st.

You are still below 3.5.  That's the range for false positive.
Regardless, many live with HSV 2.  I am not saying you have it.  I am just trying to be supportive.

I talked to nurse practitioner at western blot and they said it doesn't sound realistic to have antibodies increase this much in a matter of week. He said it could be of different scale on that test and that's why it's so high. He said doing so many igG tests isn't a good idea since you can get results like this.

I don't know about western blot. If that comes positive, then that means I got hsv from a handjob. I don't want to live I this world anymore.

The other option is with the hand job. If she had hand herpes (whitlow) you could contract it on you penis but she would have to had a open finger sore at the time as whitlow does not shed and it would have been very painful on her hand to give you a hand job. Next time you have either a penis sore or a hand sore, have it swabbed within 48 hours to confirm herpes.

Your positive for both hsv1 and hsv2. youve had 3 positives for hsv2 and that would be conclusive and no futher testing would be needed. I think the anwer lies in your opening statement about what happened at the massage palor

You believe this is what happened but apparently there was some genital to genital contact made or in very rare cases she had hsv2 and you had a open sore on the finger that touched her. It is possible to get hsv2 in your hand ganglion but the good news, if this is what it is, that it only sheds when an open finger sore is there. Its called herpes whitlow. Im not saying this is what you have as is rare but surely possible.

Ok, I will be doing the western blot test soon(waiting for the kit) but I did another IGG test with another doctor, I have not asked where the test was performed, but here are the results:

HSV 1 8.00
HSV 2 3.1

What happened? The blood was taken on Dec 31st, and today this is what they said. It jumped this much? I don't even know if this the same test performed as before.

1st month

HSV 1 6.00
HSV 2 1.85

2nd month

HSV 1 6.00
HSV 2 1.87

The last test was done one week after the 2nd month test..can anyone explain what is going on?

I was thinking that scab I saw right below the head on my penis would be an indicator of a big igG. I went to the doctor that same day and he said it doesn't look like herpes..it looked like abrasion. I didn't feel any pain, only when I stretch the skin it would sting. And when the scab fell accidentally from shower, it didn't scab again. There was a dark red fresh raw shiny skin underneath, no pain or anything.

I will do the WB test tomorrow.
