Cause of herpes outbreaks

I was dignosed with genital herpes about three months ago and have not had much sex since, but every so often I have a small out break and I'm wondering if this can be caused by the electrical beard shaver I use to shave my pubic hair. Can the shaver be causing outbreaks to occur? Is it germy?

Hi there -

If you aren't ready to tell people  - as in sex partners - you have herpes, maybe you need to rethink being ready to have sex at this point.

And yes - how were you diagnosed?

Recurrences are normal.  At this point the best thing to do is when you have your next symptoms that are "mild" as you describe them - go and be seen by your provider to see if indeed they are herpes and not something else going on. You might even have a low level yeast or bacterial infection going on that is further complicating things since you were just diagnosed a few months ago.

How did they diagnose you? Do you know if you have hsv1 or hsv2?

I don't like the whole thing bald so I use the beard trimmer on the area I don't want bald and I use a razor where I do want it bald. I am the only one who uses the beard trimmer and I only use it in pubic hair. The reason I use a beard trimmer is for convieniece of the size.

I'm not sure if you got my response to your comment cause I have a bad internet connection. I am not having sex these days. I'm not ready to announce to people that I have herpes. The shaver is used only by me and only on pubic hair. I don't like the whole thing bald, so I shave that area with the beard shaver and the area I want bald I use a razor. The reason for using the beard trimmer is for convenience of the size.

LOL ok sorry - you say you are a girl - I assume you aren't shaving your face (missed that the first time), but no one should be using it on their face if you are using it on your genitals.

It could be.  You might try a regular razor and see if that helps.  I agree about not using the same razor on your face that you use on your genitals.

I doubt that a shaver would cause an outbreak, although I think in the interest of hygeine it would be wiser to use disposable razors,Outbreaks can happen if you are particularly stressed or unwell with something unrelated or just for no apparent reason, there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to Herpes Outbeaks, some people will experience regular outbreaks whilst some very few and others none at all.

When you say electical beard shaver I presume no one uses this on their face after you have used it to shave your pubic area?? ....
Have you made sexual partners aware of your status before sex takes place since your diagnosis?
