Those are rough estimates of a single exposure. There has been studies in couples where one has hsv2 the other does not. In twenty couples who averaged sex at least three times a week (unprotected) only one couple spread the virus in one year.
Jake start a new thread with your concerns and questions and we will be happy to help. That way we will know how to help you exactly.
of the 90% of people who don't know they have herpes, do you know how many of them don't have symptoms versus how many of them have mild symptoms that they mistake for something else. I am going through a bit of a scare right now and I don't have any symptoms, I am just trying to go less crazy. How did they come up with the 1 in 1000 statistic?
The people most at risk are in a relationship with a partner who has it. Even then with unprotected sex there ia roughly a 5% chance of contracting the virus
That is the chances for any single exposure. I didn't make the statistic up.
not intending to question your information but if the chances of getting hsv2 is 1 out of 1000 encounters how do 25% of the population have it? It seems like the percentage would be much lower.
Thank you. I'm going to continue the Monistat tonight & tomorrow night & if the problem persists, I'm going to go see my doctor. I thought maybe intercourse could have triggered an infection a lot quicker than if I caught herpes. I didn't think it could come on so fast, but I wasn't sure. Like I said, the itchiness & swelling happened within a couple hours of us sleeping together.
This all came on to fast. Most primary outbreaks happen 3-5 days later. Sounds like a yeast infection. If the discharge persists then see your gyno. Most people do not have hsv2 and it's not a super infectious virus. A one time unprotected expose with a known pos partner has a 1 in a 1000 chance of spreading the virus to the other partner. Now you truely not knowing but I would believe he doesn't would be a much longer shot than the 1 in a 1000
