Do I have it?!

Okay. Well. Let's start with the basics. I've been going steady with a boyfriend for a while. We had sex with a condom, and well, then just this week we did it 5 days consecutively and it was fairly rough, and now I have this thing that looks like a canker-sore but not quite on my clitoris, and I really don't know if it is herpes or not. I've gone to the docs to get blood tests done. But I'm really antsy. There's only one of these things and nowhere else.

For those who want to venture into the visual:

Any kind of help would be very helpful!!!

make sure he had herpes testing when he was tested. it's typically not a part of routine std testing. most folks don't realize that when you ask for std testing, you only get tested for 2 or 3 std's so it's best to get a print out and find out exactly what testing he had done.

This could be many things. I agree, it could be friction related ( too much of a good thing! ). It also could be a sign of vaginitis or some other sort of infection going on too which is why following up on it is in your best interest.

Well my bf is supposed as of March, but I haven't been tested yet.
I saw my provider, but she didn't really elaborate at all, so now I'm just all antsy to know what on earth I have...

Do you think I have it?! o.O It's really hard to focus on exams not... being ready to know whether I probably have it or not...

we don't look at pictures as is clearly stated in our read before posting post on this forum.

Have you and your bf ever been tested for herpes and other std's?

did you see your provider at all about your symptoms?

I'd like to mention that I also had the chills (but no fever), and a sore throat. But I'm not sure if that's just from running out in the cold for a bit.

Hey,

Thanks for the comment, I did actually have pain with it, but only if its being touched. When I found it, it already looked like a cancre-sore/ulcer like thing, so I'm not sure if I just hadn't noticed earliar or.. yeah. Is it typical just to have one?

I just don't really know what to do at the moment... thanks

If you were recently exposed, blood tests are going to come back negative.  It can take up to sixteen weeks before the antibodies show up on a blood test.  I can tell you that this isn't a classic presentation for herpes.  You don't mention any pain with this sore.  In general, a herpes lesion will start out as an inflamed area, with a burning/stinging pain, tender to the touch.  Then you will see a blister that will turn into an ulceration within 24 to 48 hours.  The blister and ulcerations can be tested with a smear sample, but again, those tests are not always accurate.

My first reaction to this would be that this could possible be some sort of friction sore, due to your very active sex life.  Skin, especially in the genital area, can only take so much abuse.  If you continue being this sexually active, I would suggest using a good lubricant to protect these delicate tissues.  For now, since you have already seen a doctor, give the area time to heal, but keep an eye on it.  You could try dabbing a bit of anti-biotic ointment on the sore itself to help with the healing and avoid infection.  If you start having any other type of pain, vaginal or pelvic, return to your doctor.

Best of luck,
