possible oral herpes

Hi Grace,

Please let me know what my possible risk/exposure was here.

3 weeks ago I was at a strip club and got a lap dance from a completely nude girl. At the end of the dance the stripper grabbed my head and rubbed her vagina on my mouth for a few seconds. Probably her trademark move?? There was no oral sex in the sence. My mouth never opened but of course there was skin-to-skin contact on my lips. I did not see any sores, but I wasn't really looking for them. I know that the virus can be transmitted regardless.

A few days later I got a mild sore throat. Additionally, my lips have been tingling/burning in random locations but no cold sores have emerged. I've felt warm at times but do not beleive that I've had a tempature over 98.6. I had a strep culture done but it was negative. The doctor did say my throat looked viral.

I'm scared that I may have contracted it and that I can spread it to my girlfriend without actually producing mouth sores. I have been tested for HSV 1 and 2 in the past on a few occasions. Always negative.

I have had there little white dots appear around my lips lately that seem to go away after a couple days. They are not painful when touched.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks for the reply. By a few seconds I mean probably about 10 seconds but no more. You say that tingling is for recurrent outbreaks. What about lip burning? That's been going on for about 2 weeks now but no blisters have appeared. Could this be a symptom along with the slightly sore throat? I will consider the testing but would rather not add to my anxiety for another 9 weeks if unnecessary. Thanks again.

Hi, it really takes more than a few seconds of rubbing to contract herpes esp if she did not have any sores at the time. Also if she had hsv2 genital, contracting it oral is not common at all but hsv1 would be more of the risk. Little white dots that come and go would not be consistant with herpes nor would just having tingling, as tingling is more for those who already have herpes not really for recent infections. A red dot by itself would not be consistant with herpes either. At this point we can only suggest you have a test at 12 weeks or 8 weeks as an indicator.

Any input would be appreciated. A dark red dot appeared on my lip this morning and I'm freaking out.
