Lips burning

My lower lip feels like it has been on fire for the last 10-14 days. Does the burning last this long with oral herpes, or is this a symptom of something else?? I keep reading that burning is a prodrome syndrome. Can it also accompany the outbreak itself for the duration?

I am doubly perplexed because I'm not *sure* I'm having an outbreak. I've got some things on my lower lip that I suppose *could* be blisters, but I can't say I'm entirely sure. (Or, rather, sometimes I'm absolutely sure they're herpetic lesions, and other times I look at them and think I'm just being neurotic.)

If it is herpes-related, it would be my second outbreak, though I'm not entirely sure I had a first; that is, I'm not 100% sure I'm HSV positive. (The "first" occurrence was not accompanied by burning of this magnitude at all, and I had equally ambiguous spot(s) on my lower lip.)

If you any of you have had this prolonged burning symptom, it would be good to hear so I can get some clarity!

There is something called Burning Mouth Syndrome - https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/burning-mouth-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20350911

The cause often can't be determined, but it may be from an allergy, vitamin deficiency, diabetes, thyroid issues, reflux, grinding your teeth, or a lot of other things.

Your IgG being negative at 6 months would rule out hsv1 being the cause.

Burning alone for 10-14 days without a cold sore surely doesn't sound herpes related.

Comforting, but I would not say I'm "without" them. I'm just not absolutely sure. But I think they are cold sores (probably). If they were, would this duration of burning be possible?
Still somewhat doubtful and have you had them looked at.
No, I haven't. They'd be gone by the time I got in with a dermatologist. I guess there's urgent care, but I just have a feeling the doctor would say "Hmm, not sure, can't really tell. $150, please."
They can swab the area and pcr test it.
Thanks, I'll look into that
