Herpes after six years?

I have had reoccurring tiny fissures about 1-2 mm in length, right before my period.

I have had the same partner for the past 6 1/2 years, it is possible to have had herpes for this entire time and not know it?

I have never had an OB with sores or anything of that sort.
My boyfriend has never shown any signs either. He is 100% std free.

Doesn't sound like Herpes to me but it mught be worth having a chat with your Doctor about this since it is reccurring every month.
In answer to your question Yes it is possible to have Herpes for a long time ( years in some cases) and not know, not everyone is symptomatic.

Thank you so much for your comment. I will have to ask my doctor about it. I am just so scared that it could be something serious.

Did you ever have these "fissures" swabbed for a herpes test? Even if your blood test is positive for HSV2, it doesn't necessarily mean your recurrent fissures are due to herpes. Where do they usually appear? Is it just on one side? How long do they last?

fissure: a narrow opening or crack of considerable length and depth usually occurring from some breaking or parting

Visualize...is that what it looks like?

And I agree w/ worried.

when a post is this old, it usually is best to send a private message to the person who wrote it since odds are they aren't coming back to the forum regularly to see that you've asked new questions in their old post.
