Ok, this is going to be long.
A week ago I woke up in the middle of the night to a really intense vaginal pain. I've had UTIs before, but this one felt even stronger and more painful. I had frequent, but painful urination, and the pressure/fullness from inside. I couldn't even go back to sleep. So I made an appointment to get it checked out and she told me that there was quite a lot of bacteria in there and that she was going to give me some antibiotics (Metronidazole) to take for a week twice a day.
The last day of these antibiotics I was in severe pain again and couldn't move or sleep at all. For a home remedy that I looked online for pain relied due to vaginal bacteria, I soaked a tampon in diluted tea tree oil, which subdued the pain quite a bit. Even so, I made an emergency appointment for the next day.
The next day the doctor said that she had never seen anything like what I had before and that my discharge and a greenish tint to it and that there were weird balloon shaped lesions in there, that she thought could be genital warts. She said she still had no idea what it was, so she was going to call the main doctor at the clinic to take a look.
The main doctor came in and said that the discharge was really not that green, and that she thought that maybe I have herpes. She also noted that she was surprised that there was still bacteria in there even though I had taken a week of antibiotics. She told me that there was no yeast in there either. She couldn't give me anymore information really, and prescribed me Valtrex and more of the same antibiotics. I also recently had a blood test and I'm waiting for the results.
I am obviously scared out of my mind and I'm trying to get some more opinions. Could this be a really bad UTI and infection combination because of the extra bacteria? What also concerned me was that my first doctor claims she has never seen this before...and isn't herpes rather common? I would think that she would be able to spot it right off. Please help me with some suggestions.
