I need some advice, anything to get through the night...

It's been a long weekend and I'm unable to get any moral support from my recent sex partner about the subject.

About 2 weeks ago I had unprotected sex with a man I was dating. The next day a small area right above my clitoris, on my pubic area was itchy. I rigorously scratched it, and thought nothing of it. After some time I noticed it swelled and got red. I figured I may have infected the small area by scratching it so much. I applied some cream and it eliminated the itch. Now that small area is just tender but no discoloration. I then had my period. Once my period ended, I woke up feeling as if something were in my vagina. As if I had a tampon in. I checked, and nothing. Then it started to itch inside my vagina, but no discharge or odor. I also have flu symptoms but it could just be a cold, since my brother just had a cold and could have easily passed it on. Severe head ache, scratchy throat, slight cough. A day ago I injected some Monistat. It relieved the itch inside my vagina for a while but this morning it's back, and I still feel like I have something inside my vagina. I checked for swelling/bumps but felt nothing. Still there's that small, itchy patch of skin I mentioned earlier. And some tingling around that area. It could just be from hair growing back that I recently shaved a week ago.

Now the reason I'm concerned is that a few months ago, a fling of my sex partner told him she tested positive for HSV-2. This, however, did not mean she could have necessarily gotten it from him as it had been some time since they last had sex.

My sex partner says he hasn't experienced and symptoms (of course), and that he got tested last month for everything except HPV and herpes. All other results came out negative.

So there is a huge possibility I could have gotten it. I've been waiting around all weekend for Monday so I can get tested. It's been emotional and rough, could someone please give me some advice or help me get through the night?

Again, main symptoms (all with alternate explanations):
-Head aches, sore throat
-Very minimal, concentrated external genital itching, some tingling, around a patch of skin above clitoris
-Internal vaginal itching, with very little response to Monistat

Thanks to anyone who can lend some time.

Thank you for your response. Well my symptoms have worsened after the doctor popped the white blister for a culture swab two days ago. The area still remains red/itchy/sore and another white blister formed right next to it afterward. I'll get my test results Tuesday.

She had prescribed me Acyclovir, which I've yet to fill. But seeing as how I still have these symptoms I will probably end up taking it. Now I am doubtless that this is Herpes, which is fine, but I can't stand the itch/burn!

So, can anyone please recommend some home remedies I can try to reduce the pain/blister? My doc told me to apply Neosporin on it (assuming it was only a bac infection). Thank you.

Herpes symptoms would not appear the next day. Not sure what you expect when you "rigorously scratch" that area! I'm sure it would be red and swollen!

That aside, if you're sexually active and have never been tested for herpes, consider doing so. Always best to know your partner's status as well.

Went to the clinic for a visual inspection. Was told I had a small staph infection, Doctor said to apply neosporin and hot towels. Still she took a swab for culture.

She said chances are it isn't herpes, as it is only one white blemish, and not located within my labia. I'm not too sure how I feel about this, since most people react to the virus differently. Time will tell....

I mean, how typical is it for first time outbreaks to have only one lesion? If you will, please lemme know. :(

Nothing here to exactly say you have herpes just yet.  You could have irritated the skin and so forth.  Your flu symptoms could be just that.  Phlegm isn't typical for the herpes "flu like" symptoms we refer too.

At this point being seen is the best thing to do if they feel its herpes they will have a swab done and can culture it.  Getting a blood test will not help you.  Do not get an IGM test as they are flawed for herpes and cross react with other things.  If you want to be tested wait 3 months after this encounter and have a type specific igg test done.

Hi, thank you so much for the reply. I wasn't able to get my appointment until this afternoon. I am still waking up with flu symptoms. Coughing, sore throat, swallowing phlegm. But symptoms respond well to Dayquil. My yeast infection symptoms completely dispersed after using a Monistat treatment. But still I had an itchy, inflamed patch of skin in my pubic area, above my clitoris. I applied a cream for the itch last night, which helped. A few hours later though, I woke up because it was BURNING. I cleaned the area up and applied a warm cloth which soothed the burn. However, upon waking up this morning I discovered it turned into a white pimple/blister. I pulled the skin back to get a better look and it popped.Unsure of what to do, I just took a shower and currently applying another warm towel which is soothing the burn (and hopefully can help with the inflammation).

This has to be herpes. I can accept having the virus, but will I get symptoms this bad every time I have an outbreak?! I've been bedridden for days now. I can't live like this. It's interfering way too much with my life. Please tell me it won't always be this bad!

Your symptoms can be related to herpes but most likely isn't.  You could be sick hence the flu like stuff.  You could have a yeast/bacterial infection and you could have just various other things going on down yonder.

Herpes symptoms won't start the next day.  It takes 2-20 days before one will have symptoms of HSV.  At this point you need to be seen by your provider for a proper work up on your symptoms.

Your partner needs to wait 12 weeks since his last encounter with the other lady and be tested using a type specific igg test.  You testing now for HSV won't be accurate for your last sexual encounter.  You need to wait 3 months for an accurate test.
