Is a two month old scar from a cold sore contagious?

I got a cold sore about two months ago - worst I ever had, with a huge bump and a scab It was around day 18-20 when the scab finally fell off. Now, over a month later, I still have a scar - it's not red anymore, just a discoloration of the skin. Definitely no more bump, open wound, fluid, or scabbing, etc. There hasn't been any of this for several weeks. I want to kiss my wife, and to have oral sex. Should I still be concerned about passing the virus along?

I've searched all over Google, but it seems there is a discrepancy in the term 'scar'. Some people may refer to 'scar' as the initial redness that usually lasts for a few days after the scab falls off, which in this case, would still be somewhat contagious. But what about if the redness is long gone, and the scar has been present for over a month?

I've used vitamin E and anti scarring cream, which may be working, albeit extremely slowly.

The scar isn't contagious any longer, probably, but do you know if your wife already has hsv1? If she does, you don't have to worry about transmitting it to her. She can get a type specific IgG blood test from her doctor, or go to STDCheck.com, LetsGetChecked.com, or healthlabs.com and get a test on her own.

Hello~I don't think it is, but to be sure, it would be wise to ask your GP or even a pharmacist.
