Not sure if i have Herpes type 2

So I'm 17 and was diagnosed with Herpes Type 2, when i was 15. My first outbreak of the infection included sore'ness, itchy'ness, bright red in color, thick lumpy discharge and an outbreak of open sores. I obviously went to my doctors to get looked and and she told me i had Herpes. She never properly tested me for the virus, eg. blood tests. I have never had any proper tests since as i didn't think it could be anything else. But since my first outbreak, when i have a 're-occurence' (if i do have herpes) of the infection i never ever have any open sores. My symptoms just included sore'ness, itchy'ness, aches and pains where i would usually experience period pains and a smelly discharge which is either thick and lumpy or runny like liquid. (the color never changes). I just wanted to know if anyone could tell me if there is a chance that maybe i could of been wrongly diagnosed? Because i have now lived with depression for a year and a half from knowing i have herpes and i would very much like to be with someone who i feel very strongly for, but being my age and having to tell a partner is not possible for me, i would more than likely be turned away and then it would be spread round. Please can somebody help me?

go back and get a proper work up done.  even if you do have genital herpes, your current symptoms do not sound like they are herpes related.   herpes does not cause smelly discharge. follow up on this properly because depending on the cause of your discharge, it might impact your future fertility.

your work up for herpes was also very incomplete. you'll need to seek out a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what your status is. I fyou are only hsv1+, no way to know if it's oral or genital unless you can recall a history of cold sores or you get a repeat of genital symptoms to have cultured.   gum clinics don't offer the type specific testing from what I understand so you'll need to seek out that part privately and pay for it out of pocket.

No i havent been back at all, my prescription is repeat so i never actually have to go to the doctors when it re-occurs. Thats another thing i was wondering, that maybe the doctor was right about it being herpes.. because the medication seems to work..?
