Oral and herpe's question please help

Ok this is the situation and i'm curious if i should be worried or not... basically i got oral from a girl who said her friend had herpe's... she thought she got it from one guy that they both had slept with.  The girl that gave me oral had slept with him first...now she told me that the guy was tested and came back clean and she said she's been tested every month for along time and she has came back clean everytime and that her friend must have got it from someone else.. Now my question is since her and the guy have tested clean and all she did was give me oral for a few mins do i need to be concerned?   I'm curious that if she did have genital herpes but since i didnt touch anything on her and all she did was give me the oral am i at risk for anything?  Or am I just overreacting and have nothing to worry about?

Thanks in advance I appreciate any help on this situation

no, it would still be genital herpes, just hsv1 genitally instead of hsv2.  I think type and site are confusing you at this point.  genital herpes is an infection of herpes in the genital area. it can be hsv1 or hsv2. Same with oral herpes - it's herpes in the oral area and can be either hsv1 or hsv2.

ok so basically if you got oral sex from someone with oral herpes like cold sores or w/e you would get oral herpes and not genital herpes.. thanks for clearing that up because someone told me that if someone has oral herpes and  they give you oral sex you would contract it and it would turn into genital herpes.   But in reality you would just get oral herpes and not genital do i have that right?  i really appreciate all your info you've gave me and your fast responses :)

yes you can still transmit either oral or genital herpes potentially even if active symptoms aren't present.

type is different from location.  it's still whatever type of herpes you contracted regardless of it's oral or genital.

ok so if someone has the oral version and doesn't have any  cold sores at the time does it still get transfered?   I always heard that if you dont have have an outbreak or open sores or w/e that your less likely to transfer it.   and does that mean they end up with genital herpes from that point on or is it that they get the oral version from it?   and the genital version is still just from genital to genital contact?   Or oral can go from oral to genital?   Sorry for the questions just trying to understand it right so i'm not confused :)   thanks again for your fast reply

statistically 1 out of every 2-3 adults has hsv1 orally. it's incredibly common. if someone has oral herpes, they can transmit the virus to someone's genital area by performing oral sex on them.

thanks for the quick response..i got tested awhile back and everything came back clean at that time.. and thats what i thought but i wasn't 100 percent sure i had heard that if you had oral herpes or w/e that you could give that to them and it makes the person have genital herpes but you'd have to have a cold sore in your mouth correct?   just asking this question for future reference anyway thanks again for all your help :)

have you ever been tested to know your own herpes status?

even if this gal did get genital herpes from someone, odds are she doesn't have it orally too from them.  You aren't going to get someone's genital herpes unless you have contact with their genital area.
