Outbreak or Not? Too hard to tell..

So I'm having a hard time determining if I'm having an out break out not. I know when I first got tested I had a smal ulcer which I was certain was an HSV-2 out break. I haven't had any out breaks within the past 6 months and am always on point with taking my medication. As of now I see a little redness near the surrounding area of my penis just under the folds of the skin of my shaft that wraps around the head of my penis (I'm uncircumcised). When I first noticed the redness I started to feel a slight itchy sensation and now seems to have gone away. My concern is just being able to recognize when an outbreak occurs and to keep myself from transmitting anything to my girlfriend. There seems to be some dryness, but very minuscule not enough for me to tell if it's the virus retreating and my skin healing.

It's so hard to tell by a discription but it sounds more like an aggrivation. Play it safe for a bit and see what happens
