Possible herpes outbreak?

Hello,

I recently noticed a slightly raised rash near my vagina, it is a little sore and slightly itchy. About a half hour before I got the rash I noticed a sharp pain in that area. Also worth mentioning, I had a small rash above my ankle a several days before the rash appeared near my genitals, however the rash by my ankle had disappeared by the time the one showed up near my genitals. I have also been experiencing headaches basically the feeling you have when you have a virus. All this leads me to believe I may have gotten herpes. Now, I am prone to skin rashes and I did have pityriasis several years ago as well as Chicken Poxs when I was 21. I have also been celibate for 3 years (roughly) and have never experienced this before that I know of. I also understand that the virus can lay dormant for years.

We can guess all day long as to what it is.  I can go to webmd and paste every article for what comes up with rashs.  In this case I would say shee your provider for the work up so that they start working on what this "rash" is.  I would go see a dermatologist actually.

Thank you. I have to add that in addition to the rash I had on my ankle, I also have a similar rash on the upper side of my face...very little though. I had the rash for about a week or so. I'm wondering if it might  be shingles or some other weird cause... isn't it somewhat unusual to have it in all three places if it is herpes? Also they don't look like sores either. Any way I do plan on seeing a doctor, I just like to get other's opinions first just so I can prepare myself for whatever the doctor has to tell me.

Be seen by your provider have them do a a lesion culture.  You can also be tested using a type specific igg test.  This could be a yeast or bacterial infection so have that checked as well.
