I recently got tested for Herpes and I had a low positive for Herpes Type 2. The nurse said that the tide came back at 1.4 and the lowest tide you can have is 1.0, she suggested that I come back in three months and get re-tested, if the tides come back lower I will be a possible negative. Is there any hope in this?

It means nothing. Each person's body responds to infection differently. There is no difference between a hsv2 infection in someone who is testing accurately + at 1. 4 vs someone testing at 5. 8.

What does it mean when you have a low titer compared to a high, does that just meant the infection is more prevelant in your body?

there's no way to even guess at that for you so I won't even try.

Here is another question, what are the chances that in 3 months when i do re-test that there will be a higher titer reading than the first?

About 1/2 of folks will test + by the 1 month mark but if you are really anxious about it and want to follow up properly on it then I suggest you wait and retest in 2 or 3 months and see what it is then. If it's still under 3.5 and you haven't had any obvious lesions then additional confirmatory testing would be in order.

I know it's not fast and easy answers but sometimes it's the best you can do unfortunately.

It had to have been over a month ago.  Do you think there is any hope?

It's titer - not tide....he he he

Yes indeed 1.4 is a low positive. How long before you were tested had you last had sex with anyone?
