The doctors told me to get tested again

Hello Grace, my doctor told me to retest at six months. I have cold sores. Why would the doctor tell me to re test at six months? Could it be cause my hsv 1 could sero delay my test result for hsv 2 from the exposure?

Not many folks at all have hsv2 orally. of those who do, the average rate of shedding is 1%. that means that the virus on average would be active about 3 -4 days total out of the year. The odds of you receiving oral sex from someone infected with hsv2 orally and then actively shedding when you do receive it are incredibly low. We never recommend testing for hsv2 when oral sex is the contact from the encounter in question.

Why should i not test for hsv 2? Whats the chances of getting hsv 2 from unprotected oral sex. Also could hsv 1 antibodies delay antibodies for hsv 2 to be positive on a herpeselect igg blood test? When would be the right time for a very accurate blood test with having hsv 1 antibodies trying to get a accurate hsv 2 result. My doctor really didnt explain much too me. The numeric value of the hsv 2 went up .31 from the old test. I asked him why would that happen and told me to restest at six months to be sure. Grace thanks for your help. I read some of the westoverheights book but it didnt answer my questions. Hope you could help make me understand or help me out.

you received oral sex. there is no reason for hsv2 testing from it.
