Worried about herpes, IgM blood test

10-11 days ago i had protected sex with a random girl i met at a bar, however the condom broke and i did not notice until i switched positions.  I stopped when i noticed this.  I asked her if she was clean and she said yes, but some people could lie or not know they have anything. i have been so worked up about this that i feel stress has taken a lot of a toll on me and i have believe in my mind i have symptoms of herpes. I havent had any bumps or lesions but i have had pain above the groin area near the lower abdomen.  I went to the doctor 8 days after i had contact w this girl and he said everything looks fine. But gave me an IgM blood test for HSV 2.  If it comes up negative is there a chance it is a false negative?

Also today i found a red mark on the underside of my penis, it does not itch, burn, or hurt and is not raised like a bump or anything. do you think i could have made this mark from checking my self every so often everyday .
please let me know what you guys think. Im seriously worried and am not sure if its in my mind that i have this or i really do. Thanks!

those are the 2 most common std's you'd pick up from partially unprotected sex from someone and they can be tested for the earliest. Up to you if you want to do  syphilis, herpes and hiv testing.

also just make sure herpes was included in your november testing. it's typically not a part of routine std testing so ask specifically to know for sure just to err on the side of caution.

No i did not get tested for those two, the doctor said none of my symptoms matched that of either chlamydia or gonorrhea. I was thinking of going to get them anyway. And to answer your question before yes, i have been tested before back in november, when i went to be tested for everything before i began having intercourse with my then girlfriend, just to be safe. Everything was fine.

I have been itchng all over from head to toe but i think that is just me stressing out about this.

Thanks for your help though grace, much appreciated!

the herpes igm test is a greatly flawed test. current CDC testing guidelines don't recommend that it be used on adults at all. your provider erred greatly in ordering it for you since you really can't rely on the results regardless of what they are.

nothing you've mentioned sounds like herpes going on. did you get tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea when you were seen on day 8?

if you need the peace of mind, follow up with a type specific herpes igg blood test 3 months post encounter.  have you ever been tested for herpes before this?
