do i have herpes

i am a 31 yr old woman. i have irritation ans swelling in and around my vagina. the partner i was with said they had itching a couple of red dots. i immediatly made an appt at planned parenthood, there were no visiable signs of bumps but i was red and irritated the nurse took a swab and said i had a yeast infection. i took some the pill to remeady the yeast infection but still after a few days had buring in the vagina. i then called my freidns mom who is a doctor and told her my symptoms and she said possibley herpes and a couple of days later had a bump on the outside of the vagina. i went in 2 days later and had a culture. the results came back neg. some weeks later i had some buring and irritaion again another nurse looked at it and said i didnt have herpes. i did take a blood test it to came back neg, but because i was with two different people i took one more... that to came back neg. well just recently i am have the same symptoms burning in the vagina and redness a little sore on the labia... so again i had a culture done again neg. so all in all ihave had 4 test done 2 bloodwork test and 2 culture all neg. but what i dont understand is why i am having this intense burning and irritaion ( also i have had burning sensation in both feet). i feel like i am going crazy and no one can give me answers. what do you think this could be? also i just took one more blood test this afternoon to finalize if it is herepes i get results back thursday. please help shed some light i feel like the doctors are making me feel like its nothing when in fact i am highly uncomfortable

I had the confirmatory blood drawn this week, and hope to learn of my herpes diagnosis some time next week.  keep your fingers crossed for me.

Regarding the burning sensation and irritation...while I was having a episode of this, I bought one of those over the counter tests.  It's called Vagisil screening...something like that.  It measures the PH balance down there, and tells you if you have a yeast infection, or if you have BV.  My PH was high so I went back to my OB and told her that my symptoms seem like BV.  She took a swab and looked at it under a microscope (or whatever they do) and said that the bacteria down there was slightly off.  She prescribed me supository cream.  I'm hoping that this will take care of it!  You should try the over the counter screening test!!!!

im sure... well i have been told several differnt things about blood work. one doctor told me it shows within a week... to people at planned parenthood 3months. the most recent test i took (which was tuesday they said 3 months as well) and this test for show will show if i have it or not. so lets both hope for  the best. i have been fantical about this i even went to the dermatoligist this afternoon to have her look cause i am red and irritated and she again assured me not hereps and mybe contact dermatius she prescribed me a topical. so until tomorrow i guess i have to go with that. very frustrating...

I believe that an IUD is one of the possible causes of Bacterial Vaginosis.  Have you read about it on webmd?

How long has it been since you think you might have been exposed?  I've heard you have to wait 4 months for blood testing to be sure the results are correct.

I'm 29 years old, so we are about the same age.  I've had some irritation down there too, and haven't really had a for sure answer about it.  I've brought it up to my doc a few times.  Similar...she gave me treatment for a yeast infection once...and other times said everything was fine....?

I'm not sure if I have Herpes either, I'm waiting on confirmatory testing.  I totally understand why you are freaked out....I am too.

the funny thing is i have been tested for everything under the sun. just from what i have read it seems like herpes may be difficult to diagnose. from blood to culture it seems like it may fall through the cracks somehow. i just went to my old ob (who treated me like a child) and he took a culture to see if its a low grade yeast infection. i also have the mirena iud... i wonder if that may have an effect on why my vagina hates me right now.

could it be bacterial vaginosis or someother type of yeast-like infection that is not an STD?  Maybe ask your Doctor about other causes?

sounds like you have been told numerous times it's NOT herpes.
