curious about symptoms

I'm a younger male who did my fair share of stupid things when I was younger. Sleeping around unprotected and what not. I then got into a relationship that lalsted over 4 years, completely monogomous. Well, up till the end. She cheated and we split, and since then I've been with a few girls... Now while I was in this relationship, she was tested a few times because of medical issues. Always clean. So after 4 years of unprotected sex, I figured neither of us had issues. I know that's not the best way to go, but it was enough for me. Now I have a scare. Someone told me a girl I slept with about 6 months ago has herpes. So I'm worried. I got even more worried when I noticed a small white area in my urithra just about 1/4" in. I noticed this because my urine stream has been awkward so I looked to see what was up. I plan to go get tested in a few weeks, but I am curious what it could be before I go.

Thanks

call your local health department to see what your options are locally. You can usually get tested free for all std's but herpes through the health department.  they will do lesion cultures there but not blood testing most of the time.

you can order up your own herpes igg blood testing for about $100 give or take through many online testing sources. worth looking into if it's going to cost you more to get blood testing done at a clinic.

I understood that people would look down on my "vicarious testing" but I was going to marry the girl and neither of us had any symptoms, so I just plain wasn't concerned... Now I am... And I do plan to get tested, but lack of insurance and funds is putting the testing off till late january...

Any idea what this other issue could be? I don't feel like its a big deal, it doesn't burn when I urinate, I have no pains normally. The only time I notice it is after extended vigorous (rough) sex... And that doesn't seem that abnormal to me. And then obviously the urine stream, which is intermittent

Thanks for your help thus far

it's less confusing when you change your icon to male :)

you should be getting proper std testing regularly for yourself, not relying on your partners as a way of knowing if you should get tested or not!  It's a good idea to get tested 3 months after the last time you had sex with a partner or even at the very least yearly get a full screening done!

At this point get a full std screening done and specifically ask for herpes too to see what your status is.

the issue with your urethra doesn't sound like herpes or any other std. sounds pretty normal actually.
