pregnant and possible outbreak?

Last week I was on vacation and noticed two small bumps on my vaginal lips, I am very careful so I assumed it was nothing to worry about. I of course told my partner abs agreed there was no need for concern and had they not got better by time I came home I would go to the doctor. Through the week the bumps turned into a small  white ulcer, very itchy and painful. I again assumed that was from scratching it. I came home Tuesday and went to my doctor Monday.. I looked up pictures of herpes and that was not what it looked like, there was no puss and it was only one leison. Well at my exam she said that it surely did look like herpes, and the fact that it was painful was what she was worried about. She did a swab and sent me for blood work. I won't get the results until Monday. I am 17 weeks pregnant and she prescribed me valtrex as a precaution but from what I read about it, it says during pregnancy to only take when absolutely needed and seeing  how we are not positive if that is what this is, and it is almost gone I'm not sure if I am comfortable taking it. And I am very fearful of what if this is herpes? I will have to have a c-section which really hurts my pride as a woman.

The test was not with my original pregnancy blood work or exam, I guess they don't test for it unless you have an outbreak, now I have this leison and they did the swab and blood test but I won't get the results until Monday.

Hi, being pregnant you should already have had a herpes test both blood and a swab of the sore. Herpes are not white puss so dont be overly concerned its herpes. You absolutly need to have a blood test as does your mate. Pregnant women take antivirals to help prevent outbreaks during labor so talk to your doctor about your concerns about taking them now with out any test results and please dont forget the blood test both you and your mate.
