tingling lips

Hello,

Last weekend I went for a night out, drank way more than I usually do and picked up a girl in a bar, which is also something i don't usually do.

The next morning I had a slight tingling/burning on my upper lip. Re the girl, we didn't have sex. She gave oral with me wearing a condom and I gave oral to her with no protection.

I'm not sure if this is a concidence, related to the huge amount of alcohol I had (cocktails, spirits, beer) or if I have picked up something from the girl.

In the next couple of weeks I will get a full check up, but I'd appreciate any advice in the mean time. It has been 5 days now. Tingling is still there, lips are a little try. No cold sores or other symptoms. The tingling also comes and goes, but is there most of the time.

Hi,

Just as an update, as I found a few threads of these go without the original poster giving feedback.

This turned out to be a combination of a yeast infection and also a build up of bad bacteria in my mouth. I was given some oral thrush cream and advised to eat natural yogurt.

This has solved my problem.

oral herpes pain would be constant.

see a dermatologist if your regular provider can't figure out what is going on with your lips.

Hello Grace,

Thanks for your reply. I was going to wait awhile (and stay away from girls!) because I understand the results can take a few months to be accurate?

Still in the same situation. Mildly burning/tingling upper lip. Comes and goes. Generally worst first thing in the morning. My lips get flaked after salty foods now as well. I'm not sure if I've just damaged my lips through too many spirits and fizzy drinks in a single night or if it is something else.

Other than that, no other symptoms. From what I've read, it doesn't sound like herpes and is more likely an irritation/allergy, but I haven't had it before and I don't think it is chance it happened literally hours after an unprotected experience.

just tingling and no other symptoms could be many things. best thing you can do is be seen by your provider. if you are concerned that it's herpes, ask them to do a pcr swab of your lips and oral cavity for better answers.
