Problems posting on Forum

Just recently I was writing a reply to a member of the Thyroid Forum.  I exited the message to get a link to some info I wanted to add.  When I returned another member had posted a reply, and my message was gone.  I used the back button to no avail,  It was just gone.  I was unhappy to have to start over, but decided to do so.  I encountered the same thing again.  Very time consuming and frustrating.

Never encountered this before, has something been changed on Med Help that could account for this?

Hi Claire,
Yes, that clears it up.  Since this is a built-in feature of MedHelp, I guess I had just not been unlucky enough to have encountered it previously.  I'll try your suggestion of opening a new tab in those situations.

Thank you.

I'm not sure I understand what "I exited the message" means.  Had you already hit the "Post a Comment" button to publish your post?  Or did you leave the page to get the link before you could publish your post?

If you'd already published your post and it disappeared, let me know so that I can ask our engineers to investigate.

If you left the page while in the middle of a post and someone else posted the meantime, the page would update at our end, and the post you were working on would be lost.  Unfortunately, this can't be changed and the "Back" button is not likely to have an effect.

There are a couple things you can do, though, to help make sure you don't lose your work in similar situations:

*You can compose your post in Notepad and then copy it into a post here when you finish writing.  That way, if anything unexpected happens, you'll have a copy of your post on your machine, ready to re-enter.

*If you're in the middle of a post and need to find something on another webpage, don't leave the MedHelp page.  Instead, open a new tab on your browser.  This will hold your MedHelp page open while you're using another page.

Please note that if someone else submits a reply before you hit the "Post a Comment" button, that post will show up before yours, even if you started writing your reply earlier.

Hope this helps!

Claire
