mediators for medhelp

I was thinking it would be a valuable asset on medhelp if there were mediators who could be willing to listen to members in each community and be mature enough to not take sides either way if a conflict should occur.  After all the goal of a mediator would be to encourage members who have conflicts with each other to work out a resolution and restore peace.

A few months ago I was desperately looking for a mediator, but I couldn't find a member willing to take on the task and be mature enough to not take sides either way.  I tried to speak with various community leaders at the time, but it didn't work out. Members were either afraid to lose friendships with members involved in the dispute or were concerned about gossiping.

I was thinking that mediators can be chosen voluntarly just like community leaders and held with equal status. That way members know who the mediators are and can trust those people.  For the mediator, having that status would encourage them to do what they can to keep that status and keep an unbiased viewpoint when it comes to helping members resolve conflicts with each other.

I believe this would go miles helping to resolve conflicts that occur.

The community leaders are available to help resolve conflicts. The moderators are also available and work with community leaders across different communities. At this time, we will not also be adding mediators to the mix. Thanks for the suggestion.

The community leader is the moderator/mediator. If the forum has no community leader, that can be a problem.

If you are asking for a community leader AND a moderator for each forum, I think you would have people stepping on others' toes. The CL's are there to offer suggestions, opinions, welcomes, and keep the peace.

Just my opinion.

That would be a tough position to fill. Some folks are not interested in resolution. I've seen some of the written attacks and there's no logic or reason to them, just anger. In that case it's always best to report the situation to MedHelp and they will send private notes to the people involved. I don't know what they say but they do handle it.

I'm a peacemaker like you but not everyone wants to compromise.
