Fibroids

My doctor wants to do an D&C to get rid of my 5 fibroids my question is will they come back and if so how soon after this procedure?  Can't he just remove my uterus especially when this is something that most of the women in my family have already had done because of edometriosis?

I am confused because I do not know how a D&C ie dilatation and curettage can remove fibroids.  Usually if they are submucous or intracavitary fibroids ie inside the uterine cavity you can do a hysteroscopic resection by using a special instrument called a hysteroscope that lets you look inside the uterus. If you have 5 fibroids usually you need to do a myomectomy though which is surgery through an incision on your belly.  If you have endometrial polyps that can be done by a D&C.
