IBS

I have a life long condition known as IBS. Had tests done as a child all came back fine. Now 45, I still have this condition.
Recently, I have been under a lot of stress and this condition has flared up a little more than normal. Visited the hospital Emergency, they confirmed that I had IBS. Visited my doctor and they prescribed Buscopan. Worked wonders. First time in my life I felt great in the belly. Till today.
Took the Buscopan this morning, 3rd day on it and I also took Chlordiazepoxide HCI for anxiety. All was going so well till late this afternoon. I ate my chicken wrap, can of soup, yogurt, banana and two granola bars for lunch and approx 2 1/2 hours later I got sick. My diet is pretty well the same each day.
I am a very healthy male, don't smoke or drink and have excercised all my life.
I had this weird feeling come over me this afternoon like I was going to pass out. I got up from my work chair went to the washroom, drank alot of water and ten minutes later, I had Diarrhea. In approx 1 hour I had five bouts and I urinated a lot as well. Stoll was fine, no blood and colour was normal as always. Urine was fine as well. Everything looks normal. Now I am home. Urinating a lot from drinking so much water and I have gas. A little weak from top to bottom. Ears are ringing a little and stomach by belly button is a little tender same as before taking the Buscopan. I did not take any presciption drugs this afternoon.
I had blood work done a few days ago and all came back fine. My temp is fine and my blood pressure is approx 120 over 70. No blurred vision or pain anywhere but the belly area. Just weak from this afternoon and pain by my belly button. My doctor checked me over my last visit a few days ago. Also, I had a prostate exam done. Any suggestions as to what I may have.
Oh, I am visiting the ENT in a few days as I have ringing ears.
Any suggestions as to what the problem may be.

Hi,
Thank you for your mail.
I visited the doctor again yesterday and she also prescribed Dicetel on top of the Buscopan.
I am feeling somewhat well in the belly today, but my ears are ringing like crazy and I feel a little nausea.
Tell me, does your dad take any prescription drugs for his Tinnitus?
I have an appointment with the ENT this coming Tuesday and I would like to discuss my problem in depth.

Hi,
Sorry to hear you stillsuffer from IBS at the age of 45, i have suffered from a really young age - about 7 or 8 and I am now 19 and know the condition doesn't go away, well mine lurked in the background for quite a few years then came back so much worse last year! Glad the meds seem to work for you as they don't for me. The main reason I am posting to you is the ringing in your ears, my dad suffers from this and has been diagnosed with Tinnitus - maybe you have this also?

Thanks! I have done that. Doctors as you know can only diagnose you when they have all the hard facts.
Just came from the Doctors office and I was informed that my Cholesterol was a little high and for certain I have IBS. I was also told that where I exercise a lot, makes a major difference. Non smoker and very little to no alcohol. Keeping a healthy lifestyle minimizes your chance of illness.  As we get older we have to take better care of our bodies.
They also told me that there is no cure IBS, but to take the prescription drugs when needed to feel comfortable. I was also told the condition will not get worse.

Did any of the doctors make sure they know all the other prescription drugs you're already taking before they prescribed the Buscopan?  I've noticed that some doctors are more thorough about this than other doctors.  I've had to start carrying around a list that I printed out from my computer, so I can just give a copy to the doctors I'm seeing, so that everyone is on the same page.  I'm wondering if you had a terrible drug interaction happen to you?
