Wow...she was given someone elses results?  How awful (and good) all at the same time.  I'm glad it turned out that she was okay...but I bet this very stressful for all of you.

Thanks for the update.

Was she really given someone elses report? I went to retrieve my medical records from the local hospital about 2 years ago, and some poor woman's reports were mixed in with mine! I couldn't believe THAT! But yours, that's WORSE! I AM glad she doesn't have leukemia, my son had that, and you DON'T want that! When I was 20, living on Maui, a sheriff drove clear out to the country where I lived with my husband and told me my MOTHER DIED! I asked her name, and it was the same, but when they told me WHERE she died I was confused, even though she worked for Delta, and was always on trips. Turns out, I was the wrong person! Or rather, she wasn't MY mom! I was crying before, everything...people should REALLY be more careful!

Hi there and welcome to the forum.  I'm sorry to hear about your mother-in-law.  It is strange that just three weeks ago the blood tests were fine, but possibly she had a different kind of blood test?  This is something I would ask the doctor about.

I have never heard of "acute leukemia myloma", however you might look up Acute Myeloid Leukemia also known as AML.  There is also a disease called Multiple Myeloma, which is completely different than AML.

Renal failure is a problem with her kidneys.  It sounds like they are not doing a good job of filtering the toxins from her urine.  I don't think this is directly related to AML or MM, but I'm not certain.

As for the alcohol intoxification...I'm stumped.  Are you certain she doesn't drink?  I'm not trying to offend you, but some people are very good at hiding it from others (but not from blood tests).  If this is still stumping you and your mom, this is something else I would ask the doctor about.

Good luck and please keep us posted after your next appointment.
