I went to liver dr today. He said I have a fatty liver and liver is inflammed.
He basically said I need to loose weight and get more exercise.
one doctor thought the gallbladder should be removed and one thought it shouldnt . So not sure what they will do. I have been home since Monday and have been feeling much better.
Thanks Hector. I was in the hospital for a week while they ran tests. Was extremely sick the first 2 days. I have follow app with a surgeon for the gallbladder problem and a liver specalist for the enzymes. I mostly saw a liver specelist and the hospital dr. while I was in the hospital. I dont have a regular dr. I do have afollow up with a regular doctor at health clininc too.
Hello!
You need to see a specialist. ER doctors are not experts in liver disease (including gallstones). You need to see either a gastroenterologist (digestive disease specialist) or hepatologist (liver specialist) for follow up. They will be able to diagnose the cause of your problems and provide the proper treatment given all of your health issues.
"Patients who have symptoms will need surgery either right away, or after a short period of time.
A technique called laparoscopic cholecystectomy is most commonly used now. This procedure uses smaller surgical cuts, which allow for a faster recovery. Patients are often sent home from the hospital on the same day as surgery, or the next morning.
In the past, open cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) was the usual procedure for uncomplicated cases. However, this is done less often now.
Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and a procedure called a sphincterotomy may be done to find or treat gallstones in the common bile duct."
* Elevated AST and ALT are a common result of gallstones.
* Yellowing of skin and whites of the eyes (jaundice) is a common symptom of gallstones.
Let us know what happens.
Cheers!
