Bullous Lung Disease

I am a 36 year old smoker since i was 17. A few years ago in 2009 I had a ctscan done that showed that i had nodules in my lungs. Last year in July 2010 another ctscan was done to check the blockage I had surgery on which was SMA I asked him about the nodules in my lungs. I was told they didnt scan my lungs and that he would wait until this year july 2011 to do another scan. At the time in July 09 i was diagnosed with having tachycardia. Well I have been having trouble breathing thought it was due to my tachycardia but went to the emergency room and told them my situation with the ctscan and so they did one there. It came back that I have bullous lung disease and was told to quit smoking immediately. I have a follow up appointment on May 1st but my concern is that they found a 1.6cm lymph node in my lung. Could bullous lung disease turn into cancer? I have had repeated bronchitis and constant shoulder, neck, and upper arm pain and headaches. What is the treatment for this type of lung disease which they also referred to as emphysema. I was given steroids and inhaler that day. Is this the only treatment there is? Thank you
