I got the second CAT scan results: compare to the prior exam there has been resolution of all the nodular densities seen throughout the lungs. A granuloma persists on the left. There is no adenopathy. The heart and great vessels are unremarkable. Impression: Resolution of previously seen bilateral lung densities. The lungs are now clear. Of course I'm happy, but my question is: How the lungs are clear if I have a granuloma on the left? The granuloma could be malignant? If that the case, do I need a biopsy? It does not said how big it is. Could you explain this to me? Thank you very much for all of your help. God bless you.

Hi,

If the rest of the findings appear to be resolving and a granuloma is left, the granuloma is likely a scar.
The statement that the lungs are clear may refer to other previous findings that are not opacities. Some descriptions would be “haziness” that may represent inflammation on lung tissue that may have been present before but have changed with the surveillance interval.
