I was given steroids before diagnoses and wound up on a breathing machine, almost dying. I am very much against it of course.
An LLMD and physio (pain) DR. said its OK. But as we know, they are only people and people can make mistakes in judgement. I dont know if this is their educated guess or if they had patients that tried this with success.
There is a lot of negative stories with Prednisone and lyme when goggled.
Burscano says to avoid steroids (but doesn't address short term use).
I don't know the difference between the steroids, but would caution against it unless, as Jackie suggests, your Lyme doctors gives the ok. I've also read that steroids cause less harm to Lyme patients if taken while also on antibiotics, but that's only hearsay on my part.
I was given prednisone while undiagnosed and I believe, along with my Lyme doctor, that this complicated my case significantly. I felt better for a short time and then became more sick (and in particular weak and fatigued) then ever!
Which of your doctors says the steroids would be all right to take even as a short course? I would listen to the Lyme doc on that point.
