Like above, Permethrin on shoes, socks, pants, out door gear. Repel is one brand with it. If its hot and your wearing shorts, just look every 10 min I guess. Shower and wash hair daily at the end of outings.
I read a great Idea for outdoor gear - put it in a sport bag sprayed with permetherin on the inside when done, untill its washed.
If you dont get into outdoor activities consider that a blessing. The contrete city lifes not for me, so I'm screwed LOL.
I agree with Rico that you still need to be checked just in case. I have heard many cases where people had repellant on but got bit anyway.
I don't have a particular suggestion for you, but something with permethrin (spray on clothes only) is considered the best. I have a sensitive nose, too, and I hate greasy stuff on my skin so I can relate.
I heard of pre-sprayed permethrin gators which you can just pull over your shoes and calves. That stops the ticks that grab onto shoes or lower legs.
No spray can eliminate the need for a good, thorough tick check after an outing, though.
