Good morning all!  Thought I would start an open Forum.
I am 37 weeks today.  Hopefully I don't have too much longer to wait.  Been getting some weird pains..... feels like someone is sticking a knife into me - between my belly button and pubic bone - would that be a Braxton Hicks?  With this being my first, I really don't know what sensations I should be looking for.

With Braxton hicks, the front of your belly will tighten up. it will feel like the baby is poking his/her butt up and out of your stomach. I've been having them for over a month now, and they've never been sharp or anything. You never know, this could be the start of labor! I wish you luck, and keep us posted!

my braxton hicks contractions never hurt they were just annoying.
next time you feel it put your hands on your belly if it feels abnormally hard it probably is a contraction otherwise it might be the baby trying to get comfy and hitting a nerve or something.
good luck, hope it goes by fast for you.

thanks for the feedback.  At my midwife appt last week she said the head is resting on my pelvis, as I had mentioned I was having quite a bit of discomfort through that area, especially when I stood up after sitting for awhile.  I had these sharp pains last Wednesday as well, then they went away and came back again yesterday.  I have my next appt. on Saturday morning.  At what point do they check you internally to see if you are effaced/dialated at all?

My ds was born 27 May.......not long ago so I remember.
My braxton hicks never did 'hurt'......they were uncomfortable but not what you are describing.
When I went into 'labor' my contractions were very much like yours sound. My entire labor the pain stayed very low like what you are experiencing. When is your next appt.? If you feel you need to go in to be checked then do so.....they won't mind. I only hated doing that because they seemed to keep me forever to monitor me and then say........oh, you can go home now your contractions aren't doing enough yet....
UGGGGGGG........I was hurting so bad, I almost wanted to just stay.....lol
Good Luck to you and please let us know.

Hello all! I had my first ultrasound last Tuesday. I will be 9 weeks tomorrow. I got to see the heartbeat, that was the coolest thing! My EDD is 4-1-05.
In my 1st pregnancy I was placenta previa and abrupted (sp). I was in the hospital for 9 weeks prior to delivery. He is 9 1/2 now, and very healthy. The doctors told me it would be a 25% chance of having placenta previa again, so we are praying that does not happen again!

when I was pregnant with my son (now 2 1/2 months old)& daughter (now 2 years old) the doctor checked me for dilation & effacement every week starting at 36 weeks.

Another thing I've noticed lately is that baby is still active, but now when he moves around, it's uncomfortable almost to the point of being painful.  Is this common as one approaches their EDD?

Hello to everyone! Thanks again for all the advice on the progesterone levels. I was really counting on this month to be the right one for me, but Monday will tell the tale for sure! I hope I get that BFP and join the preggers!!! If not, I am feeling much better about it all this month and I think even though I will be disappointed, I will be able to keep it together. After all I still have next month!!! :)

Thank you all for your continued support...I love you all!!!

Hey girly.  About the uncomfortable pains with movement I hope it is normal because I have it as well.  I love to know he is ok in there by moving but it is starting to hurt.  I am feeling A LOT of pressure and I even get pains in the rectal area when that happens.  Don't know what that is.  O well.  I hope that this has helped you out.  Don't worry you are almost there.   Good Luck and Take care.

Thanks for the feedback.  I feel the same way, it's great to feel him move - it reassures me he's okay - but it's getting kinda painful.  I guess I'll see what my midwife says on Saturday.  Can't wait to hear the results of your u/s on Monday.  I had been following the 50th percentile for growth, although I'm now ever so slightly above the line, so hopefully he won't be much bigger than 8lbs.  I can hope, can't I?
