10 wks and cramping

by shm79, Oct 11, 2006 12:00AM
I am 10 weeks 1 day pg, and I have been having some light cramping on either side on and off. I have read in some places that this is normal.  I had 2 m/c 2yrs ago and every little ache worries me to no end.  Has anyone else had these cramps and everything be ok?  I'm starting to think maybe I am overly paranoid.

I have had cramping on and off for a while I am 15 weeks.  My doc. said it is the uterus expanding and it's very normal.

I also had cramping almost every night from about 9wks to 16wks. It drove me crazy with concern and I was in dr office every couple weeks. They assured me it was normal and as long as there is no bleeding or unusual discharge its fine.

i had the same. long as there's no bright red blood and its just cramping, not major pain, dont worry about it.

My obgyn lets me hear the heartbeat on Doppler (from 10 wks on usually possible) once a week to quell paranoia. Maybe yours would do that--takes like 5 minutes. Even though I had a good u/s, h/b at 7.5 weeks, by 8.5 weeks I was nervous (again). It does a LOT for my mental state.

pains and cramping are normal.  ligaments stretching but if they are menstrual cramps...with lower back pain and bleeding, then you can be worried.

have you been to the dr yet?  i'm sure everything is fine but if you haven't been then at your first appt ask for a u/s.

most accomodate their patients request pretty easily.

Hi,  I just thought I would write because, I am also exactly 10 weeks and 1 day prego.  And I've had a m/c before.  And I totally understand that your worried about everything.  We're on the same boat.  I sometimes get cramps in my back and rarely in front.  I mentioned this to my doctor and she said, " As long as your not bleeding when your cramping or cramping if you bleed, you're ok".
A lot of what I feel, I've been told is the uterus stretching. And sometimes I think it's cramps but it's really gas :-)
Yesterday was my first appointment and I must say that it took a lot of pressure off of my shoulders.  Maybe your appointment will do the same for you.

Good luck

Try not to stress. I had a M/C in Feb. & now I am 21 weeks pg. I have had cramping from day one. sometimes so bad I think I am getting my period! It is hard when you have had a M/C. But you have to stay as positive as possible for your baby! As long as you are not bleeding, it is pretty normal!!! :)

Please relax!  I had 2 m/c in the last two years also and I am 10 wks 2 days along.  I get cramping and lower back pain.  Please dont worry about your cramping it is normal from what I hear.  The best thing you could do for yourself and your little one is to relax and let nature take its course.  Keep me updated at ***@****.

I just want to add that not only is the cramping normal, but it will get to a point where you will get terrible side pains/stretching when you turn the wrong way, or if you get up too quickly from a lying position. I have had a LOT of that the past week. I have to be careful and turn over slowly, or get up from bed slowly without turning my body too fast. Sometimes I do it when I'm standing and I lean over or turn sideways..
The pain is sudden, and feels like you tore something in your abdomen/stomach. The dr told me this is normal, too. Just part of the whole "ligament" thing.(I'm 12W 4D)

Anyway, that's my input! LOL

Thank you for all your words of encouragement!!  We had an ultrasound at 6 wks and 8 wks, and both times we saw a strong hb (140 the first time and 171 the second)!!  I'm trying to stay positive, its just so hard.  Next u/s Oct 27 by then I will be 12 wks 2 days and maybe then I can relax a bit.

wow, we must be due around the same time and I too have everything you described.  My u/s all come out good but I even have spotting here and there.  I have been to the dr. a billion times because I am so scared.  Just so afraid to be happy.  On Sunday I will be 12 weeks and I too go back on October 27th.  I will be 12 weeks 5 days and if all goes well we are considered out of those horrible m/c woods.  It could still happen but unlikly.

So good luck to you:)
