3 hour glucose test

3 hour glucose test

Well, I just got back from my 3 hour glucose test. If people ever want to torture a pg lady, that is sure the way to do it. I think I do have problems with my sugar because I have been getting dizzy and light-headed A LOT lately. I won't know the results until at least tomorrow though. What do they do if the sugar is too low instead of too high? Well, I feel like **** now, and have a feeling I will all day. What is the range you need to be in? Does anyone know?

After my first glucose test (which was a fasting glucose test) I went straight to the local hash house and had steak and eggs.  Fasting followed by over-sweetened orange soda is not the way to start the day, LOL.  Try some heavily protein oriented meal.

I hear you girl. I had to do my about 6 weeks ago and it was not fun. The last hour was a tourcher. (SP) Anyway, I had my DH bring me foot to the office, so ASA they poked me the last time and I was able to get out of there, I grabded my sub sandwitch and was eating. Coffee stoped followed before I got to work. Anyway, I passed.

I know the feeling....i went through the torrure 2 wks ago. I was almost sick several times throughout the 3 hours.  But, luckily, i passed.  I'm not sure about the range though.  I got a call a few days later saying i passed, though.

Thank you ladies all for your responses! They said they aren't sure when they will have the results, but they will for sure be in by my appt Friday morning. They said they would call if they got them sooner. I really haven't gained that much weight, and I don't eat an over amount of sugar or carbs. If I have it and I have to go on a special diet...I don't know what I am going to do!

The only thing I can tell you is that feeling dizzy and light-headed during pregnancy is normal, especially if your blood pressure is low. Mine is 90/60 and I constantly feel a little dizzy. So, I don't think you should really worry about that.

As long as I know the low blood sugar has different sympthoms like. You should feel:

shaky, nervous, tired, sweaty, cold, hungry, confused

It's considered low if it's 70 mg/dl or lower. If that's the case try any of this:

eat or drink 15 grams of carbohydrate quickly 1/2 cup of fruit juice, such as:
1-2 teaspoons of sugar or honey
1/2 cup of regular soda
5-6 pieces of hard candy
Glucose gel or tablets (take the amount noted on the package to add up to 15 grams of carbohydrate)
1 cup of milk

Test your blood sugar again in 15 minutes. If it is still below 70 mg/dl, eat another 15 grams of carbohydrate. If your blood glucose is not low but your next meal is an hour away, have a snack with starch and protein, such as:
Crackers and peanut butter or cheese
Half a ham or turkey sandwich
Crackers or cereal with a cup of milk

Try to do all that and if you still have any of the sympthoms above, contact your doctor and discuss it with him/her.

Also, you can find a lot of information about that in google.
