36 weeks, umbilical cord

im 36 weeks pregnant. today at my ultrasound the doctor told me the baby's umbilical cord was around her neck. but since it was loose, it is ok. is it really safe?

its not that ok . but you shud be very careful now with the movement of the baby my friend had the same situation when she went in labor so she had c-section baby heart beat was being low , SOORY i dont want you to be scare just want you to be more attention towards baby movement. My baby was born with the cord around her neck they cut if off after her head was just out.. scary but fine.. good luck

It's common for the cord to be wrapped around many infants necks in the womb and/or at birth. About 1 in 4 births have a Nuchal Cord, and generally the baby is unharmed. During labour the doctor will just watch to see if the cord is still around the babies neck. Most times it can just be unwrapped, but sometimes if it's too tight they have you hold on pushing while they cut and clap it. The odds of stillbirth from this are about 0.15% and are rare. Try not to worry about it too much. Because the doctors know about this, they know what to watch for when you go to deliver.

I just list my son two weeks ago tomorrow. They say it was a chord accident. It was wrapped twice in a figure 8 across his feet. I went into labor and delivery the Saturday prior to Monday April 18 and he was moving like crazy. My blood pressure was high.  Monday when I went in for my morning OB appt. She got no heartbeat on the Doppler or ultrasound. Could that cord really be the cause if his stillbirth ????

Hi, I have been reading every bodys post.  I am 43 years old and have a daughter of 22 that lost her baby last week 30 May 2011 on 32 weeks. Thursday she did not feel baby move, she had a appointment at docter but it was cancelled because of a emergency. by Freiday their was still no movement of baby. She went to hospital friday afternoon and they monitord baby, his heartbeat was very low and they told her to go and eat something and come back cause this sometimes help babys heart beat. she went and ate something and came back and the hearbeat was normal again. she asked for a ultrasound but it was said to her that their is no one there that can work the masjien. they strugled for 3 hours to get baby to move and on the end told her to go home because the heartbeat is fine and baby is just lazy. well on monday she went to doctors and then the heartbeat as doctor said was very low... althought my dauter said that their were no heart beat.  they russed her in for emergensy c section and babys cord was rapped 2 times around his neck and he came out blue. the doctor said that this was the reason forbabys death??????? I now after reading what everybody says am so convieced. I hold baby in my arms and he was perfect in all sens. he just had to breath... I still till today believe if they gave her a c-section on friday he would of lived... doctor said if he lived he would have had a lot of defects.... who to believe and what to believe???? I pray that if she falls pregnant again that God would give his grace that this will never ever happen again..... she wants to have a baby as soon as posible... I have to believe ..... so all I want to say that a experience like this is hell itself... thank you..
