I am about 11 week prego with my 2nd. My stomach basically expanded overnight....my regularRegular insulin clothes are getting tight, and I feel so uncomfortable cramming myself into them! :(
I have gained 5lbs already, admittedly by eating SOME junk, but mostly healthy foods. But the truth of the matter is that I am hungry ALL the time. I dont want to gain 5lbs every month!
I think I have to go to the Maternity store on my lunch to see if I can snag some summerSummers eve anti-itch clearance clothes...I wasn't expecting to have to wear them until at least September! :(
honestly 5 lbs is not bad i am only 8 weeks and have gained 16, so i need to go get some maternity clothes also. i was just afraid i could jinx myself by buying them, but i have already heard the heart beat. so i would stope worrying about gaining weight its gonna happen no matter what. honestly with you being 11 weeks and all you have gained is 5 lbs, as long as you are eating healthy. good luck with your pregnancy. don't cram into uncomfortable clothes, you will spend alot of time during you pregnancy so you should do what you can to be comfortable. so go spend some money on some new clothes.
Thanks ladies. As I am sure you know, its so damn depressing to have gained so early on! My hubbie thinks I look 'cute' but I just feel like a stuffed sausage! Oh well, I am just happy to be prego and the only thing that matters is the little bundle of joy in there.
But why, oh why, do Doritos have to taste so good!! :) LOL!!!
If you are a stuffed sausage after 5 lbs, I was the whole HOG....gained 50 total (22 pounds in 2 months) But, it is the only time you can gain that weight and it be "ok" It will come back off. So, you just be a happy stuffed sausage.
I feel like a stuffed sausge because I am cramming myself into my clothes, I am sure that once I bit the bullet and start wearing mat clothes I will feel sooooo much better!
But you are right, it is fun being able to eat again!
With each of my three pregnancies, I gained 32 lbs. While I too felt big, I just kept thinking how wonderful it was to be so fortunate to carry a baby. Just remember, there will never be a time in your life again that you can eat whatever you want and not be criticized for it! Eat, gain weight and be happy! I know the comments when you are only 6 months along - Wow, you must be due any day now! Oh, you are huge! I have heard them all and all I say is, No I am not due soon, I am growing a happy healthy baby and it requires lots of food! The weight will come off afterwards, especially if you breastfeed! There is plenty of time to watch what you eat - a lifetime of monitoring your calories! Good luck - eat, eat, eat, your baby will thank you for it!!
god bless you all children are the best when first hear i love you mommy your heart melts. There the best gifts ever arnt they. Yes eat i look like i was having twins and it was only one very cute girl shes 2 now good luck
My doctor told me that a healthy pregnancy should only include a 25-35 pound weight gain since the baby is only about 8 pounds of it, but I think it is different for everyone. Just be careful because if you do gain a lot weight at the beginning, you still need to gain some as the baby grows. Everything you eat and drink goes to your baby first. You need some of the nutrients, too, so eating enough is important.
How much total weight should I gain?
The amount of weight you should gain depends on your weight before pregnancy. You should gain:
25-35 pounds: If you were a healthy weight before pregnancy.
28-40 pounds: If you were underweight before pregnancy.
15-25 pounds: If you were overweight before pregnancy.
At what rate should I gain weight during my pregnancy?
How much you should gain depends on your weight before you were pregnant and how far along you are in your pregnancy.
Healthy Weight Before Pregnancy:
3-4 pounds during the first trimester.
About a pound a week to equal 12-14 pounds during the second trimester.
About a pound a week during the 7th and 8th months
About a pound or two a week during the 9th month
Underweight Before Pregnancy:
5-6 pounds or more in your first trimester. This also can depend on how underweight you were before pregnancy, if you had an eating disorder and what your doctor's recommendation is.
1-2 pounds a week during the last six months.
Overweight Before Pregnancy:
Very little weight in the first three months, 1-2 pounds.
A little less than a pound a week during the last six months.
Enjoy, being pregnant and enjoy getting bigger. It's the only time in life you can't eat watever you want and gain weight withought feeling guilty. Just keep you and your baby healthy, but most of all be happy:D
My midwife told me 1 pound a week!!!!!
Course she has been telling me at each visit that I've gone over that 1 pound per week.........ROFL.
I honestly don't know how much I've gained.......Probably around 20 pounds though.....I'm almost 29 weeks (on Monday) but I didn't gain anything for the first 3 months......I've gained it all since, which has put me over her '1 pound per week' rule....
I think you are fine for only gaining 5 so far.
with my son I gained 52 pounds. I had gained 18 pounds by the time I went to my first prenatal visit. (so that was more than your 5) but it all evened out! I was able to lose all of it afterward.
This time I have gained a lot - 25 pounds total or 19 pounds if I look at it differently. I am only 20 weeks. I was worried. I was worried teh doc would yell at me. I know I need to slow down on the weight gain. But from IVF transfer till last week the docs had me doing so little. (From IVF transfer till 14 weeks I wasn't even able to walk around the grocery store - the weight adds up that way.
So, I know how you feel. I can't stand to look at my theighs. But I am so overjoyed every time i feel teh baby move or hear its heartbeat that I don't stress over what I eat!
Good luck,
With my first I gained 60 lbs!!!!! With my second I gained 40. I am now pregnant with my third and I have gained 19 lbs and I am 25 weeks. All I know is that I watched what I ate with my fist and I didn't at all with my second and look what happened! LOL. You body is going to do what it needs to do.
I allow myself one treat per day, or so, whether it is a cookie, a few chips, ice cream etc. The majority of what i am eating is fruit, dairy (yogurt), veggies, grains and meat. That is actually why I am surprised i have gained 5lbs already, mostly I am eating healthy.
OK--I'm also 11 weeks. I would consider myself overweight, but by no means obese. Let's jsut say taht I am not where I would like to be. Yes, I feel disgusting in my regular clothes, but I have not started to expand yet and this is my third pregnancy.
I have gained 2 lbs as of yesterday at the doctor's office. When do you actually start "showing"? Also, I always thought it was silly to wear maternity clothes before you were physically ready. I want to wear them now, but have never seen many people or myself in the past wear them at 11 weeks.
I think you have to wear your mat clothes when your regular clothes are no longer comfortable, whether that is at 30 weeks, 6 weeks or 11 weeks!!!
Since this is my 2nd, my stomach has really popped out early. 2 months earlier than with my first. Since you have only gained 2lbs, maybe its gas/bloating that is making you so uncomfortable?
I feel so gassy every night before I go to bed, whether I have a banana or a larger meal. Then I wake up in the morning and it feels like I have lost weight. My last pregnancy, I only gained 17 pounds and I would like to not gain any more than that this time.
Are you a petite person? I am not petite. I am also over 35 and it is a lote harder to lose weight once you pass 30, I think. I have always gone up and down.
I am due on February 15, although I have also been told the 12th, the 14th and the 17th. So, somewhere around there, I am due.
I am 11 weeks, and I have not gained any weight. Actually I have lost 6 pounds. I was a little overweight to begin with. My problem is the morning (24/7) sickness and also the fact that anything over a few bites makes me feel like I overate. I have not at all changed my eating habits. I eat the same, I just cannot eat as much anymore. And I have always eaten healthy, well balanced meals.
The funny thing is, my body weight is actually repositioning itself. It is moving to my stomach and breast area. I went ahead and broke out some maternity clothes a couple of days ago. I feel completely comfortable wearing maternity clothes. I ran into a lady at the mall last week that was as far along as I am and she had maternity clothes on. She was also showing already.
My point is that even if you have already gained a little weight, relax, you are supposed to. Just make sure you are eating a well balaced, healthy diet, and all will be fine. With my first pregnancy I lost 19 pounds before I could put any on. In the end I gained what I needed, and my son was perfectly healthy. The average weight gain per month is just that "average", it will all even itself out, it always does.
Hello,
My name is Holly. I am 20 years old. I am planning on going off the pill (i have been on it for 3 years now) in November. I hope to get pregnant right away so I can give the news to my in-laws and my parents as an xmas gift. Do people usually have problems conceiving the first few months they go off the pill? How does it work? I also want to lose weight before I have a baby. As it is I am not comfortable in my skin. If anyone has suggestions or would like to chat, please email me at butterfly_baybee2005***@**** I will respond to everyone!
Also, will you only conceive on certain days of the month? I can use as much information as I can
I think that that everyone should just chill and enjoy being pregnant. As women we have enough times in our life where we have to be that perfect 5. Trust me once your new born starts to walk or better yet crawl you'll wish that you could still sit on the couch and have those lazy days!!!! Bringing a child into the world is a beautiful gift, don't let the former you get in the way of birthing a healthy child...... Trust me the weight will come off. Just enjoy being pregnant. I'm on my 2nd pregnancy and I was like a lot of first time moms worried about gaining too much weight. That's the one thing that women like to hang on to as long as they can "that girlish figure" but after I delivered I was 15 pound smaller than before I was pregnant. Relax...... Enjoy...... and EAT!!!!!!!!!!!
My first two pregnancies I gained 43, and 45 total and the last only 21, (gestational the last one)
If you continue to do so your doctor will check for swelling, diabetes, etc...Im sure right now since your early its just placenta, baby, and all those things starting to grow and take shape.
As for clothes I just always bought bigger stretchy clothes t shirts, leggings things that were comfy!
But why, oh why, do Doritos have to taste so good!! :) LOL!!!
I feel like a stuffed sausge because I am cramming myself into my clothes, I am sure that once I bit the bullet and start wearing mat clothes I will feel sooooo much better!
But you are right, it is fun being able to eat again!
Guess where I will be stopping on my way home tonight! LOL!!
