6months sitting

6months sitting

i take care of a 6month old and she still isnt sitting up or rolling over. she also doesnt even use her arms to push herself up when you lay her on her stomach.
im used to babies sitting by about 4months and atleast pushing themselfs up.
Any advice to get her sitting up and a little stronger.

Babies will meet their milestones at their own pace.  Is this a concern of the infant's pediatrician or the parents.  It is probably nothing to worry about.

Sitting by 4 months??  Are you serious?  It's way too early!  If you're so concerned, bring it up to the baby's parents.

Sitting at 4 months is a little bit of a stretch, but it depends on the hip extenders and the physical development of the baby, most babies are closer to 5 months, but some are earlier and some later.  At 6 months they usually are sitting and rolling, but maybe the little one is shy too, maybe it was a quiet time of the day.  I guess if you are worried, bring it up to the parents, good luck.

i had the same thing with a boy that i sit for.  he is now 8.5 months old and just now sitting but has been moving his rolling and lifting his head for about a month now.  i wouldnt worry as long as you are giving him plenty of opportunity to learn.  i was concerned at first too but he is making progress so i feel much better.  hopefully you will see the same too.

My boy is 6 months 12 days and he is just beginning to sit by himself, with arms outstretched like a tightrope walker to balance himself out.  That's considered normal timing.  It is also said that the "Back to Sleep" movement to have babies sleep on their backs to avoid SIDS works for that, but it can delay development milestones by up to 4 weeks.  I wouldn't worry.  Also, my son has only started rolling since the age of 6 months, and he wasn't pushing up with his arms either until then.  In the past 2 weeks he not only caught up on that but now he is rolling front to back,  back to front all the time, where two weeks ago he wasn't.  Your little one will probably get it very soon now.
