Guys I am carrying around 20 extraExtra strength mylanta calci tabs Extra strength pain relief pounds that I want to loose. I was wondering if any of you or anyone you know has tried Alli and what they thought of it.
No lectures please, I am just looking for some input.
2 kids, I have done a lot of research and it seems like the right choice for me.
Lynne it blocks 50% of the fat you eat. However if you eat more fat than it can absorb there is some nasty side effects such as loose, oily stool and stomach pain. So you have to learn to eat correctly right away.
I lost all my pregnancy weight 3 weeks after I had Quinn. This extraExtra strength mylanta calci tabs Extra strength pain relief 20 is weight I had on before I had her. Thank goodness for breast feeding. It helped me to take of that baby weight quickly. I just want to get back into my sexy biker stuff.
i have actually heard really good things about it. I tan the lady who works at GNC and she told me its really good and it works, and she has really great reviews on it. She also said there is no magicMagic bullet pill out there, with diet and exercise its a great weight loss system.
Yes, I am aware of all of that. I have been on a low fat diet for some time due to breast feeding. I never wanted to eat anything that was unhealthy for my baby. I just want a little more help.
im not being pro pills but my sis used a combination of weight watchers (she is a cheater!) phentramine (phentermine) and working out at the gym everyday and lost like 40 pounds. im guessing has she not cheated as much she could have forfitted the phen, which she refuses to stop taking for fear of it returning. that is the hard part with pills, i think it almost always returns. i understand though, im already tyring to figure out how i will lose the prebaby fat after baby is here. i lost 13 pounds or so in feb, so thank goodness for that. i did it by eating more (i usually skipped breakfast) like healthy oatmeal for breakfast, granola or a small handful of almonds for a snack, you get the idea. i also walked and started running, and the weight just dropped off. oh i also did the slimfast thing for a bit. i was starving for the first week but it helped too.
It's a balanced and sensible diet and exercise plan. It also explains how the body processes food. Lots of medical advice. emphasizes good organic and healthy food. Lots of easy tips, and an enjoyable read.
I have 2 friends who have been taking it for years (as prescription Xenical) and have done great. The thing is, you can't eat any high fat foods, which they don't. They eat a lot of sushi, and other low fat types of foods, and exercise. It is a great tool to get you to eat lower fat, but if you're not willing to do that, then forget about it, you will have oily poo and oily farts. Maybe try a low fat diet for a week or two, and if you can stick to that, then buy the Alli. It's a pill you have to work with - it doesn't work all by itself!!
It is so hard to lose weight. I think you should try it if you want to. There is no harm in it. I know my boby because I have lost 40 pounds in my life twice. Jogging does it for me and drinking only water and hardly no bread and mostly meat and fruit. I think everyone's body is different and you just need to find something that works for you. What works for one doesn't alway work for another. I know people who jog and don't lose weight like I do. I'm sure that you will lose the weight. It is those last pounds that take FOREVER - good luck.
I agree, read the pamphlet at the store with the program. The Alli pill used to be by RX only, it's a lower dose of Xenical. You can only have 15 grams of fat or less per meal and you can have a hard time controlling your bm's. The "treatment effects" as they are referred to are not pleaseant, but if you are willing to really watch your intake they can be better. I wish they would stress the issues with it a little more, but I have seen people take the RX and it worked for them. It's up to you.
i also heard about the poohdinky thing....i know how you feel though. i am starting this pregnancy off and havent lost it from Kannan's birth yet. only five pounds but I am terrible out of shape too. he still doesnt sleep through the night so i dont get sleep. i am darn tired. not to mention dh works nights and i have no time to do a darn thing for myself. my poor toes need a pedi soooooo bad. i am almost embarrassed :( . Although, my butt probably looks worse than my toes !!!
It is only 25% of the fact it blocks, not 50% and don't you think if you restricted your diet anyway you would have the same effect? It seems like you eat less fat afraid you'll poop yourself, why not just eat less fat and save some money and embarrassment. You shouldn't go too low fat while nursing and certainly should not be taking diet pills while nursing.
Diet and exercise ladies, simple as that. not starvation, not pills, not gimmick diets. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, you need to change your lifestyle and ways of eating. At the same time, you don't need to swear off your fav foods, but eat them in moderation. WW is a great idea, but you need to actually take something away from it, a new way of viewing the tried and true ways to lose weight.
I used to want to save up for liposuction around my waist and love handle area but I just recently saw how they do it and it looks extremely painful. Why does it always come down to eating healthy and exercising? I just want a d@mn miracle pill!
Oh peek, if only that were the first time i have had to dodge pooo stained underwear. you forget young grasshopper, I worked with the elderly AND I have three young boys....
I am sorry, was I suppose to say "Sure, take whatever you want, you'll have great and long lasting results, while you're at it, why not start using meth, I hear it is great for weight loss!"
Sorry, I am not part of the sunshine committee, I am a realist. Weightloss does not have a quick fix, at least not one that will last. You may lose 20lbs with Alli, you'll be pooing yourself and still be forced to change your eating habits. Why not save the $60 a month and join the gym and eat right on your own?
I know you wanted to avoid the lecture, but there are some people on here who may not think about hte nursing aspect. Don't feel bad, it's a heated topic. You'll get there and 20 lbs. will melt off while you nurse. I lost the weight and now have the loose belly, I think that may be scarier. Lots of crunches....
Again, you know me well enough to know that I am not one to blow sunshine. Some hate it, some appreciate it. I am happy to hear you nursed Quinn for so long and i am also happy to hear you knew enough not to mix the two. But you also know there are plenty of naive women aorund who will mix the two.
And you lso know that there is no quick fix for weight loss. that is the point i am making. Popping a pill will not make you lose the weight or force you to change your eating habits long term. And why on earth would anyone want to take something that warns you to wear dark pants and keep an extra change of clothing with you at all times? You mgiht as well be taking ex-lax! All weightloss supplments remind its users to take into account that to be successful you NEED to change your eating habits AND exercise. Eat sensibly and take your baby out for regular walks. there are some really great workout videos that involve your baby and they work.
I am just flustered with women so fixated on their bodies. You JUSt had a baby. Relax and don't worry about the quick fix. It takes time and patience to lose weight. And let us not forget that the active ingredient in Meth is FDA approved. That is why I made the correllation. Just because the FDA approved it, doesn't mean it will be 100% safe. Just look at all the meds yanked in just the last 10 years.
You are a smart girl, don't fall for the gimmicks and promises of "easy' weightloss.
I don't really know anything about the pills so I don't have any advice on that for you but I do understand how you feel about loosing the extra weight. I was about 35lb overweight when I became pregnant with Sam, I too pretty much lost all of the weight I gained with Sam in the first few months, the rest has beeen harder but I joined weight watchers about 3 months ago and have lost a further 17lbs whilst following thier program (3 of thse weeks I was on holiday so didn't really stick to the diet during that time but just being concious of my food choices/portion sizes I manages not to gain any weight back during that time). With a six months old and a dissabled 3 year old I really do not have time to exercise (other than out walking with them) and as I am still nursing I had to find something that would help me loose weight slowly and consistently, weight watchers was perfect for me.
All kidding aside...I know how to lose weight. You know the correct way to do it too, or you wouldn't have entited your post NO LECTURES. You, like me and everyone else, want a quicker solution. We all know that the quick solution is not permanent.
When I do get off my butt and exercise and eat right, I do lose weight. When I inevitably lose interest, I eat and gain it back. The pounds I got rid of, come right back and bring friends.
What Andi said was the truth (as much as I would like to not believe it, and as much as I hate to hear it said). I'd LOVE to hear of some other way that worked and kept the weight off.
You wanted to hear that Alli worked great, and that people lost a lot of weight, and it stayed off. Believe me, I'd have loved to have heard the same thing. But the sad truth for all of us is that the only thing that EVER works is to eat less and move more. I get a headache just repeating that statement.
But its the truth. And you knew the truth before you asked the question. You didn't want to hear it, just as I don't want to hear it. And that's why you said No Lectures, please.

Dont' know about this other stuff...
Too bad, b/c I wanted to try it. But I'm not paying that much money to poo in my pants.

I heard about the book by Dr Oz. Maybe that would be worth a try.

Andi, oh yea a weight loss supplement approved by the FDA and you comparison to meth are real charming.
Now it is all coming back to me why I stayed away from this site so long.
