dd is almost 7 months, and she only takes 3-5 oz of breast milkBreast milk Breast milk jaundice Lactose intolerance Nipple discharge - abnormal at a time, depending on the time of day. she has never taken a big feed. breast milkBreast milk Breast milk jaundice Lactose intolerance Nipple discharge - abnormal is highly digestable and there is very little waste, so babies don't need too much in a feed. it's also why they get hungry so often. as for solids, keep trying, but don't push it. there's still plenty of time for her to get used to solids. all of her nutrition is supposed to come from the milk- solids at this point are just to introduce texture and different flavors. if you're really really anxious to get her to like solids, maybe try making it different consistencies, or try bananas. when she started, dd did not like her cereal runny. she prefers a thicker consistency.
Just try every few days, I would stick to a plain cereal for now and try it say once every couple of days or so. You are doing absolutly the right thing by offereing her the breast every 3 hours, breast milk is complete nutrition for a baby for the first year of life, solids are just an addition to that. Soon she will take an interest in the cereal and the foods you are eating. She may well skip baby food altogether, my youngest did, he had cereal for about a month and then had some of the stage one purees but wasn't all that interested relly and then he just went to small portions of our vegetables and meat mashed up at about 8 months. He loves his food now and will eat almost anything, last night he ate maccaroni pasta salad, chicken and green beans (all finger food so a very easy meal time for mommy; I actually got to eat my own dinner!!)
I also wanted to say her weight gain since birth seems fine too so she is obviously eating enough, adding solids won't really help her gain anymore weight, milk is the best thing for her weight gain right now.
Good luck!
my bub has just gone on to formula and is only taking 4 oz 5 times a day and maybe 5oz first thing in the morning, but as for the solids keep trying every few days. my ds is only 4 months old and loves his food i only give him a couple spoonfuls at lunch time every day and has gone onto formula cause he wasn't interested in the breast anymore he was pushing himself away at every feed
Good luck!
