i have a nine week old son son, he had 2 full seizures on day 2 he was put on phenobarb, phentoin ,biotin and piridoxine and then monitered he had then what we thought was settled down and he has come home, he then started to get startle shocks which we hoped he would grow out of, but yesterday he started to get arm spazms(seizures) which sometimes cause him distress one after the other, he previously had an mri which came back with no concerns and his last eeg was clear, the doctors have done loads of tests which have come back negative he is otherwise developing normaly ie smiling ,moving his head does anyone have any ideas?
My nephew used to get febral convulsions. Very scary to see. They happen when they get a tempurature and it goes up too fast. He outgrew them. I hope your son is ok. He will probably outgrow these seizures. The fact that the mri showed nothing is a good sign.
Do the seizures happen with fever? If so - NO worry - If not you may be experience epilepsy which hopefully he will outgrow. Sounds like you are doing everything right with the doctors. These are very scary but like the doctor told me they are worse for you then your baby.
Your description of "startle shocks" and "arm seizures" concerns me greatly. Are they working him up for infantile spasms? With the eeg being good, I'm relieved, but if the development of the new things you described, have they repeated the eeg?
