by maddysmommy, Nov 03, 2007 08:40PM
I know this isnt prengnancy related..but its says child health as well..soo hopefully someone can help.  My 3.5 dd just went potty and started screaming her head off.  I flew up the stairs..which is rare..lol..anyway she said it burned in her pee pee so i assumed ok uti...then I wiped her to make sure she didnt wipe backwards after a bm or something...and she has this HORRIBLE rash...big red bumps all over and she is bright red and raw looking...i have never seen this in here even as a baby in diapers...o yeah she wears panties all day long and all night long...so theres no diapers...anyway I put some of blake's desiten on her..and im going to call dr on call tomorrow bc it looks so bad...i took her aside and grilled her hard about anyone touching her anything like that and she says no..i am pretty confidant she would tell me...she wont even let her grammy or dad bathe her "there" so she's pretty good with that...any ideas would be great..thanks

Possible yeast infection? Has she been on an antibiotic recently? I'm stumped.

no antibiotic...just claritan for her allergies and her vitamins..she's super healthy knock on wood

I would guess yeast infection also.

I am hoping that it is just a yeast infection, but knowing what a paranoid parent I am, if the little one is in daycare I'd take her sooner rather than later.

No daycare..school they have a potty in her class room and its a good ratio and there's two students...with the yeast infection..im assuming it would be the same symptoms as a yeast infection for an adult...there's no white discharge or anything like that...the cottage cheese looking gross stuff..lol sorry..anyway im going to call monday morning..they wont do anything over the phone..i gave her tylenol cause she keeps crying that she hurts and had her drink cranberry juice..she's finally asleep

sounds like what the little girl i babysit had- yeast infection. it's different from the ones you think of because it is external. hers was actually recurrant. i think once it was cleared up her mom had her sleep without panties (just light cotton pants), and that seemed to help. i think they also washed gently with cetaphil every night.

You might try Vagisil.  Since diaper rash is yeast-based, I use it on my son when he gets a doozie of a case (it has happened once), and it cleared it up really well.  In an emergency, it's also safe to use Cortaid, though on a child I would only use it once or twice.  It will help ease the pain and also seems to have a good impact on the yeastie beasties.

I would think either a yeast infection or possibly even a bladder infection.  Does she take many bubble baths - that can irritate little girl's hooha area?  If you can get her to take a shower, I'd do that tomorrow instead of a bath - the cranberry juice probably isn't a bad idea - it definitely won't hurt her anymore and Tylenol for discomfort - hope the dr can check her out on Monday

I used to get terrible rashes as a child just as you described, mostly due to allergies; bubble bath, soap, washing detergent and so on. Sometimes even stuff that hadn't caused problems before would suddenly cause a flare up. I didn't wear pants at night, just a nightdress or loose cotton PJ's, that helped too.

thanks everyone...im not going to mess with putting things on her...ill cont. to use diaper rash cream a mix of desitin and A&D is what the dr had suggested until she is examined.  Thank you very much for your input and suggestions.

Good idea.  Just use mild stuff, and let the doctor see it Monday.  Poor thing sounds miserable!
