Black Period?

Black Period?

I am on birth control and have been for 9 months.  All of my periods have been normal except for this month.  It started on time but it started out very light and it was brown.  The next day it ended up heavier, but it is black.  I have never had this happen before.  Does anyone know of what this might mean? Should I go ahead and get in to see my doctor?

I know that brown blood means old blood, but black I would be worried for an infection or something.  I would at least give them a call.

I have had this before....I think. Mine was like a reeeeeeeeeeeally dark marroon color almost to the point of looking black, It happened a few times when I was younger (I'm 24 now) but I never knew the reasoning. I had no other problems so I wasn't really concerned, I guess. Let me know what the doc says if you decide to call!

I have had this happen before and they told me it was just old blood, but I don't get my period on a regular basis maybe once every 6 months to 1 year.  I would call the doctor.
