Bleeding/Low HCG levels in early pregnancy

Bleeding/Low HCG levels in early pregnancy

Hi guys,

I found i was pregnant 2 weeks ago. The very next day I started to spot. I spotted brown for 1 week then bled red for 4 days. I've completely stopped bleeding for 2 days and started spotting again today. (could this be because I just had intercourse yesterday?). When I spoke with my doctor last week, he was SURE i was miscarrying. Today he told me I was 5 weeks and that my HCG levels went from 108 to 184 and this could just be a very early pregnancy (and the levels are just rising very slowly which are normal). Can this be possible? For me to have all the symptoms of a miscarraige (miscarriage) very early on, but still have a chance to have a normal pregnancy? I have not had any severe pain, but the pain I have had feels like gas. Is this normal? or can anyone relate to this?

I'm sorry to say but this sounds like a miscarriage to me. HCG levels should double every 48 to 72 hours.

This could actually go either way.  If you do the calculations and the hcg numbers are 2 days apart, it would mean that it did or would EXACTLY double in 72 hours.  My doc uses 65% as the gauge for 2 days.  I have been pregnant 3 times.  All three I spotted all different colors including red.  ONE of the three I had my hcg double in 48 hours and that was the one that I miscarried.  My son it only went up 20% in two days and he is a very healthy 18 month old.  I am 7 weeks pregnant now and this time I had hcg done 1800 and 4 days later it was 4000!!  Not even the 65% over two days and I saw the heartbeat on monday.  Obviously I am still early and anything can happen, but through out two weeks of spotting, and bled red every other day of that two weeks, and to still see a heartbeat...  I can definately relate.

I would schedule a u/s for 6 weeks and see what they see on that.  Anything is still possible.  Good Luck to you.

I'd have to agree it can go either way. I spotted with this pregnancy and my HCG levels NEVER doubled in 48 or 72hrs more like 4.5days. Now I'm 23 wks with a baby girl on the way. As long as they are rising I'd keep some hope.

Thanks guys! I don't know what to feel or think right now. I was sooooo sure I already miscarried last week, but then today I got this news. My mind is all over the place. I'm glad that there is still hope! Thanks for all the advice guys!
